So our Edwardian soap got way soapier tonight. Fun episode!

Meantime, I just have to say:

God, I love Mrs. Hughes!

Was Mrs Hughes meaner to begin with? I haven't seen season one or two yet.

Blonderfluff -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/26/2014 6:22:42 PM)

I am HATING Miss Baxter already!!! Argh

dcnovice -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/26/2014 7:12:45 PM)

I can understand that.

But then, I think we're being spurred to dislike her. Faking admiration for Lady Sybil is particularly grotesque.

God, I hope Bates doesn't go after the rapist. I couldn't bear it if he went back to jail!!

hlen5 -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/26/2014 7:20:13 PM)

Trouble in Downton. I think Bates is going to go on a search and destroy mission!! Poor Moseley!! And am I wrong or is Edith looking a little plump??

Did anyone else wonder if Thomas put that tear is Mrs. Pattmore"s apron??

Seriously. Why is everyone so awful to him? And why isn't Mrs. Crawley, who's essentially a one-woman employment agency, helping him?

That didn't occur to me, but it's a distinct possibility.

Good question!!

TNDommeK -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/27/2014 3:59:12 AM)

That was my question as well.
I'm so glad bates knows something now!!
He is gonna find out, about who it was... I'm sure.

hlen5 -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/27/2014 1:00:50 PM)

Has anyone else gone to the PBS website and entered the Sweepstakes?? Tour of Highclere Castle is included.

And does anyone else think Edith might be pregnant?

Winterapple -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/27/2014 1:48:53 PM)

She's either pregnant or has the clap or both given
how merciless Fellowes is on that character. But most
likely pregnant.

I don't like Edith's lover, there's something off about him.
And its douchy if he didn't take precautions to keep her
from getting pregnant. I can't think of any really plausible
reasons for not using a condom which were available.

hlen5 -> RE: "Downton Abbey" Returns! (1/27/2014 2:00:01 PM)

He's an enigma with his checkered past, for sure. But he didn't investigate getting out of his marriage before Edith came along.

You're right about Edith never getting a fair shake it seems. I never even considered VD! Argh!!

Interesting episode tonight. I won't offer any spoilers, since folks may have been watching that ball game instead and plan to catch up tomorrow.

"Wrong ? No I can't say I've ever experienced the sensation."

I love that woman!

Maggie Smith could trash Mike Tyson any day. [;)]

She has all the best lines.

Every time there's a pregnancy, there's a death. I'm wondering now.....

I do. Notice her baggy dresses and coats.

FR

This was fun, though it was a little odd to see how different Mrs. Patmore and Mrs. Hughes look in modern dress.
