If this has happened, it is on the same lines of leaving a cult, cult survivors actually have a similar set of symptoms. You need serious therapy to get through it. A recommend a PTSD/trauma specialist first since their skillset is exactly what you need. Listed kink aware professionals are few and far between, and may not include someone with a trauma therapy skillset. However, at the very least a kink aware therapist if it gets you into the office is better than nothing.
Any good therapist however is trained to accept all lifestyles, etc. They may need some education from their patient on what their values, behaviors, wants, etc are; but they're not dummies, they know what to do.
If you want a mental health professional to condone what happened, none will.
Maslow also BTW, full of shit. Sorry as a trauma specialist I HATE and LOATHE Maslow. I remember in my personality class when we were going over Maslow I asked whether or not Maslow would dare say no one in the third world could be self actualized. My prof who loved Maslow just stammered and couldn't answer.
However, "brainwashing" is very real. And since a gazillion other responses came in while I was typing this, I am going to expand on this.
An abuser can make the victim extremely dependent on them, have their entire life revolve around them, change core aspects of self, change their orbit in essence. Yes, the Manchurian Candidate is a myth, however, plenty of other things are very real. Many sex trafficking victims go see johns alone, have plenty of routes of escape, but the capture at that point is an internal one. Same goes for cults, and some abusive romantic relationships.
