I lost the sound on my comp. It kind of faded away then,...nothing. I tried pulling the connector in and out on back to see if I could get a static sound but nothing. Could it be a new set of speakers that I need? Thankyou in advance.

Have you checked the system volume control? It is accessed through control panel or a speaker icon on you tool bar. What you describe is not a speaker problem.

Did you recently install any new software or make any changes? Sometimes when an app is running and you are trying to listen to something at the same time, the app will cause the other sound to lower or stop. If this is the case, then you need to change the settings in the app. Also check your device settings. Make sure your sound card is installed properly. Sometimes they can come loose.

I am only saying this because it has happened recently. Do you by any chance have a cat? If so, My cat walked across my keyboard the other night whilst I was asleep. Got up in the morning and all sorts of setting were wonky.

The first thing I check with any computer problem are the easy to check items, even if unlikely. In this case, plug your speakers into a smartphone or mp3 player and see if they are working. Then dig into the deep darks of the computer if they are still working. I clicked on this when you mentioned pulling the plug to see if you got static. You can get speakers for <$10 up to a thousand for an audiophile set.
