I expect that there are various ways in which one may feel adult or feel not to be adult.

I will appreciate elaboration.

(These polls have far too few options. I would rather have twenty choice options than ten.)

What does it mean to feel like an adult? I'm still trying to figure that out.

When all I want to do is curl up in a ball and cry because the stresses of being an adult seem to be too much at times, no I don't feel like an adult.
But I must be. I play the part so I must feel like an adult. I do the things that are implied as requirements of adults.

As a kid, whether it was me not paying attention or not privy to the real emotions, I always saw adults as strong. They did not curl up in balls and they did not waiver during stress. An image I've created in my head of what an adult ought to be I know to be all wrong. At least now I do.

So, I don't know how to answer the question other than I know I am an adult.

All I am going to say is that I feel like an adult... until I don't. then again, I am a man and that goes without saying in most parts around here

My inner child is alive and well. So is the adult, the caretaker, the leader, the Master, the boss and the lord of my realm . . . and on really good day, a rainy day with thunderstorms, my realm is a blanket fort in the living room while the slave, the dog and I snuggle up, watch classic old black & white monster movies and eat soup and sandwiches that we share with the dog.

I rule the domain. I help help maintain the house. I bring home the bacon and run the company that generates the bacon. I care for those in my charge. I make responsible decisions. I stand accountable for my actions. I am an empathetic companion. I am a responsible lover and give good relationship. I don't stress or panic. I am fearless, courageous and honorable. I am an adult.

I relate to kids on their own level. I am unabashed and bring out the playful inner child in adults. I can set the normal routine aside to be spontaneous. I stop to smell the flowers. I am decadent and wild. I am amoral. I will venture off the beaten path to enjoy whatever special adventure life has put within my reach. I have youthful passions and romance. I am carefree and decadent in my pursuit of happiness. I am a child.

I can balance all these aspects so I enjoy life to the fullest while meeting my responsibilities. I am a wise old man.

I didn't see carefree wise old man on the list.

It depends on the day. On days like Saturday, when I was at a munch with a bunch of friends (and sort of celebrating my birthday) and meeting new people, I actually feel much more like a kid. When I'm ranting and raving about the short-sighted imbeciles who won't hire me just because I have a record, I feel like a cantankerous old goat. I need many more days like Saturday and far fewer of the other type.

i think my inner child died when i gave birth to a preemie with special needs. i had to make life or death decisions for my child, it made me grow up quick. having a weak partner who would rather hide from the demands of parenthood than step up pretty much solidified the real adult feeling.
