Why do I get the feeling she leaves food out there on a regular basis - which will probably end up with a dead fox......................... sigh or should I just go "Ohhhhhh, that is soooo cute!" actually, it really is cute, but bad things happen to wild animals when they mix with humans.[:o]

Not sure why you think she had to put food out. I did think it was interesting the way all three seemed to ignore each other and yes I thought it was cute as hell.

I think both the fox and the eagle would of scarpered if she wasn't regularly putting food out. They were all quite relaxed around human presence and looking at the camera expectantly. Its the time when she's not there to feed them and comes home to find the remains of one of her cats or fox on the doorstep. Eagles that size will happily snack on a cat or a fox. Whilst it may look cute to us humans, encouraging wild animals to interact with us is putting those wild animals in danger. Not all humans are as kind as the person filming.

Eagles tend to have a pretty arrogant attitude, they are super predators that can fly after all. It didn't surprise me that the eagle didn't see the human as a threat. But foxes in the wild are very timid. I would guess she'd been feeding it for months if not years to get that close to it. Although I enjoyed the vid, I agree you shouldn't feed and interact with wild animals. I think that woman should be at least a little worried about her cats. Himself has family in Alaska and yes eagles do take down cats.

Reminds me of living in Washington. The bloody bald eagles had NO FEAR of men they have been protected so long. And that porch looked like a good roost for a yearling eagle to get out of the wind. Foxes are more akin to cats than dogs when it comes to food choices and I wonder if the fox was there for the cat food. <grin>

I watched an eagle take a duck in front of me (about 2 0feet) while kayaking. I am rather amazed that eagle did not take one of the cats or the fox.

I was assuming there's a cat food dish outside, or a pet door and the fox has gotten in the habit of eating from there. But the eagle shocked me, unless she's leaving meat for it, I would expect the cat to be dinner one of these days.
