MistressDarkArt -> It's Too Damn Hot (1/17/2014 6:59:53 PM)

Yesterday, San Luis Obispo was the hottest city in the entire US. I can vouch it was also 90 degrees at the beach. Pretty much same today, and gonna be so all next week. Our three East Coast Contra Bands arriving in SLO for the 3-day dance festival are in heaven. No potential rain 'til possibly beginning of February. California is now officially in drought emergency.

What's happening in your area? Would you send us some rain, please?

windchymes -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/17/2014 7:07:44 PM)

It snowed like a snowglobe here today. Wind is blowing and it's 19 deg. F. It's been snowing all month long. I don't like you right now.

Windchymes, you can always come for a visit! [;)] I'd love to show you the area. Just don't come during the summer when it's fogged in and gloomy.

ShaharThorne -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 5:33:48 AM)

Texas is still in a drought emergency status. Prop 6 got passed, allowing the state to what they wish to the water systems like the aquifers, lakes and brackish waterways. We just need good rain storms (or as the kids say....SNOW!).

LadyPact -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 7:14:36 AM)

I sincerely do miss CA, sometimes.

Our weather has been all over the place. In the span of the same week, it can be anywhere from thirty plus above to thirty below. You'd think the higher end of that scale would be great. Unfortunately, it gets just warm enough to begin to melt the snow pack on the roads, which refreezes by the time it's getting dark. In other words, no way in hell was tk going to be able to drive down here after work last night and I'm not going to get My kicks until today.

I know...... I know...... If that's the worst thing I've got to bitch about, I must be doing pretty good.

theshytype -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 7:21:00 AM)

Immediately I wanted to respond with "bite me" but I tolerate the cold far better than heat so I do feel for you.

DesFIP -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 12:55:54 PM)

MDA, I hate you. We got an inch of snow this morning. My daughter hit a patch of black ice and has some minor damage to her car.
Monday is the return of the polar vortex, with temps in single digits.

The only good news is that we're not getting the half a foot of snow that's happening north and west of us.

KMsAngel -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 1:12:47 PM)

send us some snow!

" Australia is in the grip of an extreme heatwave which has forced beach life guards to work at night and left players and ball-boys hallucinating and complaining of “inhumane” conditions at the Australian Open tennis championship.

The worst-affected cities have been Melbourne and Adelaide, which are facing daily temperatures of up to 113F (45C) for the rest of the week.

Caroline Wozniacki, who was once the highest ranked woman in the world, said she put her water bottle down on court and it started melting.

In Melbourne, the heat forced trains to travel slower after expanding the tracks, while some of the city’s trams were diverted after the lines buckled."

And you people get mad at me cause I am trying to return the planet to the "Snow Ball" earth period?

Can nothing make you people happy?

That is a very tempting offer! I've never been to CA, really want to some day, but I'm not into the whole "Hollywood" thing, would rather explore less touristy areas. I don't know exactly where your town is, I must hit the Google maps. :)

ShaharThorne -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 3:52:03 PM)

Get the HAARP going, Jeff! I might hate the cold, but with the droughts going on, I will put up with my electric blanket!

peppermint -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 9:21:24 PM)

The weather has been perfect here. Here is Mesa, AZ which is just east of Phoenix. It's mid 70s during the day, perfect sleeping weather at low 40s during the night. It's much warmer than I remember it being last winter. We had a day of rain in Nov or Dec (I can't remember which). This place Gary bought us to live in during the winter leaked like a sieve. Every towel was doing duty soaking up the rain that was pouring down the windows. We have since had the roof sealed. So sorry we don't have any extra rain to send your way.

Of course Gary is in the hospital again. He should be home in another day or so. I'll finally be able to sit outside and read in the sunshine. Usually I've been coming home, reading a bit online, and then going to bed. I played hooky tonight and left after he'd had has dinner. Sitting in a hospital room all day is exhausting.

DesFIP -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 9:48:46 PM)

Hope he gets out quick. And sympathies to you. Spending all day sitting in a hospital room is absolutely exhausting.

sunshinemiss -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/18/2014 11:03:46 PM)

I feel for you, Dark Art. Really. A lot.

myotherself -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 1:44:32 AM)

Today it is raining and it's cold.

Yesterday it was raining and cold.

The day before it was raining and cold.

Tomorrow the forecast is that it will be cold. With some rain.

Water? You want water??

TAKE THE WATER, DAMMIT!!!!

Just wrap up warm to do it [:(]

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 4:58:51 PM)

Our entire front lawn is a huge frozen snow/ice bank. It's blowing snow right now. The wind & snow are bad enough driving the highway that the passenger side windshield wiper went flying back about 200 feet this afternoon. Weather's been up & down in terms of temp. And it either snows or rains, more snow though.

So whoever wants the wet stuff, can have it. But you have to take the cold too. [;)]

Shininglight23 -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 5:14:44 PM)

I'm in the same area as MDA and I'm loving it. Obviously we need the rain, but if there's no rain... I'll take the 85 degree days.

So much better than what my family is dealing with... California winter beats a Pennsylvania winter any day. :)

Allie

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 5:17:22 PM)

We are having the driest year on records and facing drought restrictions, in a month where we should be nearly glossed and drowned. I love how mild n nice stuff is, but I don't like the ecological affects.

anniezz338 -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 5:25:14 PM)

We have one more day in the 70's then it's back to chillier days. I'll run all my errands tomorrow and huddle down for the week.

Lucylastic -> RE: It's Too Damn Hot (1/19/2014 5:36:53 PM)

its 28 Fahrenheit here, right now and going down to minus15 tomorrow.
Its much better than it was, the ice did actually melt, but the winds are nassssty.
WE managed to pick up a few things we need in case we freeze for more than a few days and lose the power
I personally would rather this than 80 and humid. The heat drains me badly... the sun gives me blisters.
Being a brit ,im most comfortable in the wet n rain, but I do love that the sun is out and hot(for this time of the year) out of the shade.
Give me snow anyday...however I do realise that I can say this because my leaving the house is not necessary for days at a time.
When I worked 4 hour commuting by public transport I hated winter.
Still better than anything above 75
:)
