That's some serious denial there, and pretty much proves my point...

come on dude, I doubt very many have actually listened to the entire 30 minutes.. which is too bad but wtf, its not my health care system, its yours.. you can not even attempt to tell your politicians how to improve it if you don't know what the problems are & the possible ways to change it to make it better..

Since people in this thread have already done exactly that, it would seem that the agenda is all your.

its not about left vs right, its a system both parties are supporting (since the legislation was passed into law) and this (his father's death) occurred before Obamacare.. You probably call me a lefty (even tho in Canada I am a conservative) but I do not support Obamacare, but I don't support the pre-Obamacare system either.. Imo, Obamcare (as it stands) is a failure and both parties are to blame for that..

I guess it was too much for me to expect people to actually listen (with an open mind) to what he was saying and then decide which points you agreed with or not..

BamaD - I am sorry for your loss.

I've learned that I have to review my results from the VA myself - I was told that the biospy for a growth was benign but it turned out there was a retest which showed cancer and nobody told me. Fortunately for me, the records are now computerized and easy to access.

This same report also showed a skin cancer on the wrong arm.

Since I've been with the VA in 2006, I've encountered four doctors who probably couldn't cut it in private practice in an area where there was a choice of doctors. Two were GYNs and two GP. I think there is such a shortage of GYNs interested in working for the VA that they have to take anyone with a degree and a pulse. One GP is actually quite good, but she spends so much time with her patients she couldn't survive in an HMO.

Some of my favorite medical practitioners over the years take no insurance at all.

Thank you.
As far as I am concerned the VA has killed almost as many American military as the German army

Fundamentally,

you have hit one nail on the head.

Since the patients don't shop around, and don't know what they are buying - they get screwed.
So for example - when you get a "sterile line insertion" there is nothing that says to the patient - these are the 5 steps the doctor should do.

So as good as nurses are, no one is better than the actual patient, or their appointed guardian.
