Rule -> Mysterious stone on Mars (1/21/2014 7:10:51 PM)

I wonder why they say it suddenly appeared. I see it clearly on the before photograph.

littlewonder -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/21/2014 7:31:11 PM)

the Rover kicked it. Mystery solved.

asyouwish72 -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/21/2014 7:33:13 PM)

Where it came from is not the mystery- they are pretty sure the rover kicked it up while maneuvering (or it may be a fragment of a meteor, but I guess that is much less likely). The really interesting part is what it's made out of. Its elemental composition is quite unusual for its surroundings.

I put it there. I was in between meetings.

TNDommeK -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 2:12:40 AM)

I was thinking it's another planet. There are many different reasons why it might have just showed up.

ARIES83 -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 2:43:15 AM)

I bet there's a hell of a lot of interesting and mysterious things over there...
I guess NASA didn't opt for the "look under rocks" feature when they were at the rover dealership.
People have that built in as standard.

I am starting to doubt I will ever see a manned mission to the moon or mars in my lifetime.
I'm hope anyone here old enough to remember watching the moon landing, knows how lucky they were.

If you've eliminated all other possibilities whatever remains must be the truth. Someone dropped a Krispy Kreme obviously... see chart below.

Everyone knows that Krispy Kreme donuts are unearthly good. That's because they are made by aliens and the ingredients come from off world.

Dammit!! You really ARE a sadist! I now desperately want a doughnut but we have 7" of snow sitting in the driveway!

DebTheBrunette -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 12:00:31 PM)

It's a miracle....a miracle......it's a sign .......a sign.....follow the stone.....follow the stone

....(isn't that how it all starts?)

nouveauslut -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 12:11:35 PM)

It's an enhancement artefact.
We see them all the time in biz... Moat of them get tossed back for rework, a few get pinned on the board because they're funny, and a few become sea-serpent sightings...,

This is what happens when NASA share people with Industrial Light & Magic (no, I'm not making that up)

Rule -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 12:15:18 PM)

That is a good solution.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 1:31:03 PM)

It's not a doughnut. It's a Jammy Dodger.

That's a sign from The Doctor. If they simply turned the camera around they'd see a blue police box.

blacklacekitty -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 1:33:07 PM)

shouldn't there be a banana, then, too?

MasterG2kTR -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 6:25:02 PM)

I'm thinking one of the wheels fell off the rover and that's what they're looking at.....

Jammy Dodger?

I am going with this, simply because I want the Doctor to be real.

njlauren -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/22/2014 8:07:01 PM)

I personally think it is a piece of snot from the giant face on Mars that NASA has been covering up for years..where is the Weekly World News when you need it..

Jammy Dodger?

A Jammy Dodger is a British cookie (they call them biscuits.) It's two cookies with jam in the middle.

The Doctor once held off an entire army of Daleks with one by pretending that it was the TARDIS self-destruct button.

MercTech -> RE: Mysterious stone on Mars (1/24/2014 10:07:50 AM)

More evidence for the thesis that to be hired as a journalist you have to have failed middle school science class. Yahoo news takes the cake for ignorance when it is totally obvious the digital image had the gamma adjusted to bring out detail between shot 1 and shot 2.
