Neat. A little ahead of it's time though. To tell the truth, I don't remember the last time I read a (physical) newspaper for anything but the crossword and the funny pages.

I remember advertisers a few years back (about 5 or so) telling me "JJ, we need to start moving your ads over to digital" and I said no because I didn't "see it" yet. Do now. We still advertise with our local ads (construction company) in the phone book out of habit but I suspect this will be the first year we'll drop that in lieu of all digital. I asked the girls the other day for a phone book and they said "we haven't had a phone book in 5 years". It took that for me to realize....I haven't used a phone book in at least that long.

Quit my (admittedly, crappy) job, walked out of a 4 year relationship (admittedly, even crappier), took all the money I had in my savings (a crappy sum), and committed myself to making a success on the ground floor of a whole new internet venture, even if it meant living in my van (which, you might guess, was a piece of crap). 1981... typesetting was only beginning to go digital instead of mechanical/optical. Once typesetting went fully digital in the late 80s, it was easy to make an online version of a newspaper. Heck, all the stories were already in the company network by that point. The problem was the newspaper business offices wanted users to pay full price to access the digital version. That killed online newspapers for several years until the big conglomerates realized they could charge for online advertising to allow free access to a limited version of the print paper. Personally, I think there is a psychological concept here. People rarely are willing to cough up hard money unless they get something tangible they can hold in the hand. One reason you cannot have a success selling eBooks for the same high price as a print copy.
