Finding Bigfoot and America Unearthed, they are entertaining, but they spend a whole hour to find or prove nothing.

windchymes -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/25/2014 9:16:36 AM)

Anything with the word housewives, Kardashian, redneck, swamp, hillbilly, Jersey, diva, ghost, gypsy, or Boo-Boo in the title.

Any show whose title is the name of a celebrity most of us have never heard of and their brainless but smokin' hot spouse or wannabe family members.

The real estate "hunting" shows have pretty much jumped the shark, as have shows whose contestants have to vote each other off. Shows where America votes are gaining on them.

We need to get rid of Maury and Jerry. Apparently they haven't taught us anything about birth control.

It's not on any more (except in syndication), but there used to be a show called NUMB3RS, the idea of which was that pretty much all crime could be solved using mathematics. I occasionally watched it just to see what kind of stupidity they would come up with for that week.

Any so called "Reality" show fits the category!

Mostly, yeah.....there are a few that have sucked me in, though. I still keep up with the Duggars and though I try not to, the Dance Moms, but for the dancers, not their moms. I've learned a lot from Rehab Addict and Cash and Cari, and I really enjoy the Bronson Pinchot Project. I also find Billy the Exterminator, Pawn Stars, and Dog the Bounty Hunter entertaining. And I LOVE Pioneer Woman and Trisha's Southern Cooking.

I didn't think the shows were stupid, but I got bored on the Pickers and the Storage Wars. And I just plain ain't got time for Hoarders, lol. They can deal with their psychoses on their own time, lol.

Geez.....I didn't realize I watched so many, lol. But in all fairness, they all are "seasonal", where they show a few episodes and then another one fills in while they film more of the first one. So I don't watch them all at the same time, lol. And I dvr them all and speed thru the commercials.

There should be an exception to the hillbilly one, hillbilly thrill rides is fun to watch, if only to ask, "How the fuck did they not get killed?"

I would add anything with gold, prospecting, hunters, rules or reality in the titles,

Pickers, Pawn Stars and Storage / Shipping Wars, they're interesting but too much time wasted on BS and getting to the point. I like Antiques Roadshow on PBS. They go from one item to the next, cover way more things in the allotted time compared to the others and it's very informative without all the drama. It's like an expedited version of the drama crap.

Agree.

The only time I want to see people stranded on an island competing for food is if I put them there. I can think of a few I'd like to send.

smileforme50 -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/25/2014 3:24:09 PM)

I agree with everything that's been said before....this reminds me why I don't watch very much TV at all.

But I would add "Bridezillas" ....I'm really not interested in someone being bitchy, totally self-centered and treating other people like crap.

If that's how they did the Oscars and the other awards shows, I'd watch.

Oh god yes, I forgot about the bridal shows! [:'(] Anything about brides, their bridesmaids, their dresses and their weddings....enough already! 50% of you are going to be divorced in a few months or years anyway! lol

TheHeretic -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/25/2014 5:24:38 PM)

The wife and I hit one while surfing recently. Curse of Oak Island, or something like that. I was done pretty quickly, with the way they over dramatized cutting brush in a swamp, but the wife was completely unfamiliar with the Oak Island backstory, so that may last a while around here.

Depending on the subject matter, there are some reality shows that get off to a good start, but even those drift into stupid character driven lines, rather than where they started. Deadliest Catch, and now Pawn Stars spring to mind.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/25/2014 6:07:17 PM)

Since Mom downgraded our satellite service, we hardly get to watch anything but WE, HGTV, History Channel...we will watch the free preview channels when they come on so Mom watches GSN like crazy, I happen to like Property Brothers (a girl can have her fantasies) and crime shows like Law and Order and CSI: Miami. Once in a while we get movies.

DesFIP -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/25/2014 7:59:55 PM)

Treehouse Masters. He watches them obsessively, making comments about how they aren't properly supported. And why doesn't the building inspector ever come out, and that the time line can't possibly be real.

Of course it leaves out all the boring stuff, it's entertainment!

And Cutthroat Kitchen. Really, who gets ready to cook dinner and while filling a pot of water finds the chicken mysteriously missing?

tiggerspoohbear -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/26/2014 3:29:41 PM)

Are we really going to miss the obvious here?? WWE Wrestling, or any other-you-name-it wrestling thingie. I swear I spent years with a tool of a dom who truly believed it was NOT scripted, there were conspiracies, the owners "fixed" things, the list went on. Gawd forbid I should laugh, or try to explain things. No go.

MasterCaneman -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/26/2014 6:31:01 PM)

I hate TV. I haven't had service in about a year now and I don't miss a thing. Yeah, at the bar I have to watch what a lot of the 'hillbilly' shows (Moonshiners, Swamp People, etc), but I'd rather watch hockey or football instead. At home, this is my entertainment, and I've started getting into some of the books my mom left behind when she passed. Once in a rare while, I'll hit the library and pick up some DVDs of shows I like (BBT, BSG, Mythbusters) and watch 'em on my little player, but that's it.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Stoooopit TV shows.... (1/27/2014 4:01:47 AM)

We watch the Grammys last night for the first time because Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Blake Shelton and Kris Krisofferston were going to be on. It expose my Mom to other forms of music (I did have her change it when Mettilla(?) came on...I felt it would be too heavy for her. At least Bo saw Chicago playing with Robin Thicke. I am so glad I got the Chicago Greatest Hits CDs in my collection.
