I understand why people don't like to let online communication drag on forever. If you really are serious about meeting someone, you don't want to spend weeks upon weeks doing nothing but trading messages on CM. But on the other end of the spectrum....are you ready to meet someone the day after your introductory messages?

For some reason, in the last 7 days, I've had 3 different Doms send me their phone numbers in their first or second messages to me...which to me, seems a bit....fast for my comfort.

How quickly do you usually move from online....to phone....to face-to-face meeting?

Usually, I message for a day or so here on CM. Then email for a day or two. Then a phone call. I can't tell you how many lovely emails have led to AWFUL phone calls.
If the first call does go well, I text and exchange calls for a week, and then try and meet. I don't like to let it drag out any longer than that, because if there is no chemistry in that first meet, then I didn't have a lot of time to get too invested.

I also prefer to use c-mail for a few messages, then possibly Yahoo Chat and/or e-mail, and then phone. I have a Google Voice number that I use for privacy/security purposes, so I don't mind giving out a phone number to someone fairly quickly.

I don't like things to drag on and on and on before meeting in person, because you can have great chemistry online and even on the phone, but a real-time meeting might kill it, either on my end or theirs. You just never know until you actually meet someone in person.

If someone is local, I don't mind meeting them -- in public -- after just a few e-mails and maybe a chat on the phone. It all depends on my interest and comfort level with each person, though.

One day, one week, one month... what's the difference?

Looking for a quick... I need to see if I can really like you amounts to a hurry to me. I am not worried about wasting my time and I'm old and may not have a lot of time to waste. I don't meet bad guys for the most part. I don't have Mr. Hands a roaming and I don't spend hours going somewhere to meet Mr. Toad who can't understand why I don't kiss him and make him a prince.

One guy could get my number day one, another it wouldn't happen for some time. It all depends on what my gut tells me and making them wait has worked for me. A great guy in email, messenger and phone can turn into a dangerous muther fucker in person.

We do it how I want to, when I want to and there is no set anything about it. Go with your gut.

Depends on how soon they are flying in.

I talked with crazy ml for ... 3 years? before we met when I was in England. TOTALLY worth the wait.

i have spent the last 2 years speaking regularly with Jeff and Carol. We are meeting tomorrow when I fly threw their neck of the woods. Excited like mad!

I exchanged an email or three with Simply Michael and met him for dinner when I was in San Fran... a couple of years later.

Oh, and the man I had a relationship with a few years ago... we chatted online for about 3 months (and via skype) before he sent me a ticket to Rome as a Christmas present. Best. First date. Ever.

so.... is the ticket booked?

it depends on the man.

For most guys I like to chat online for a couple of weeks. Any guy can keep up a charade of politeness and consideration for a few days, but the horndogs usually let the mask slip sooner rather than later and start pushing for wankfodder.

If he's still ok after a couple of weeks, I'll usually arrange to meet for coffee. I don't really like telephone conversations with strangers - dunno why, they always seem very forced and unsettling to me.

If the coffee date goes badly for whatever reason, then I'll give a polite 'thanks and goodbye' and that's it. If it goes well, I'll make it clear that we will be dating on my terms for at least a couple of months before kink comes in. That will chase off the guys who just want NSA kinky sex, again sooner rather than later.

It might not work for everyone, but I was looking for a long-term relationship with a man who was going to be my friend, lover and Master. I was prepared to take it slow to make sure I found the right guy. And I'm glad I did

When she's ready.
I never initiate the phone call stuff.I let her do it when she's ready...just to show that I'm not a HNG, that Ihave self control and that I'm not like every other wanker on here.
Once we get talking on the phone, if the sparks still fly,I want to meet right quick.
Two weeks or less. And usually she does too.
In fact, at least 50% of the time I met em before I talked over the phone.

First gal I met from here we talked 48 hrs, I hopped in my car and drove across a state line or two.
Within 2.5 days of meeting we were having coffee.

If I am at all interested, i tend to send my number right away. If they are too chickenshit to talk on the phone...they are more than likely too chickenshit to ever meet. Saves time.

LOL.....I think I already know the answer to that one.....about as fast as it takes them to move the conversation to sex when we're chatting online. Possibly faster.....I can't really measure anything faster than the speed of light....

85 in a 75, 70 in a sixty, and it depends on the record for the record player.

For those who dont know (too damn young to remember the good ol days) a record player was a device with which you could listen to discs made of vinyl that had recordings on them. The player had an arm with a needle that would ride along the grooves in the disk and play the music.

Usually the guys that are desperate will give me their phone number, Skype and YM. They also want a cam but I got that sucker packed away (don't want the kiddos damaging it).

If they take it slow and easy, it eases my mind. I am not into speedy one night stands and I don't drive.

What does any of that have to do with hiway speeds or playing a stereo phonograph?

Isnt this topic about driving fast and playing records?

my speed is very fast if its easy to be fast.... i can meet someone on a walk and spend the next week becoming soul mates and then hate each other a day later..... or i can talk to someone to 10 years before i meet them. if you are close, i see even a glimmer of potential i will probably meet and size you up if its done by my terms. i prefer to skip over all the usually getting to know each other crap and go right to the end game.... which for me is figuring out what your end game is and with most people that takes 3 months before they start dropping their guard and showing you their true self..... sex wise, i dont have sex with very many people if youve been a good sport i might blow you but i dont 'let' anyone touch me in a sexual manner unless you've managed to really work some magic. i've had 2 partners with whom i had a very sexual relationship.... the rest never did anything for me sexually.

It's not a matter of being afraid of talking or meeting...it's not wanting to regret giving out my phone and proceeding at a pace with which I am comfortable.

Playing records is either 33 1/3 rpm or 45s. My turntable doesn't have the capacity for 78s. As for car speed, hwy driving is 10 to 12 KMs over the limit. I can get a ticket, but won't lose any points. And that's loud head bangin' music. In the City, still 10 over, unless school zone & a bit more mellow or cruising style.
