Last year we had gone out with a couple of friends to a half decent restaurant. We were seated next to a larger table which had an entire family including mum with new baby and a boy of probably 4 or 5. As we ordered our meal the child was imitating an aeroplane along with all the sound effects. He ran round and round his table closely missing ours each time. Our meals arrived and the child aeroplane continued. My husband suddenly put his hand up in a stop position as the child approached our table for the umpteenth time and said louldly, 'STOP now go and sit down'. The mother called across to us, 'leave him alone he's just a child', to which Steve said, 'then perhaps you should of fed your dinner guests at home where your child's boredom wouldn't be spoiling our dinner too'. Funny thing is, his whole family loudly encouraged the child to continue being a aeroplane but the child sat very firmly on his seat refusing to budge! As they vacated the restaurant, the father poked his head back round the door and gave us the two fingers.

Status: offline 		Wow. Sadly my sister in law is one of those that does not care what her kids do as long as they leave her alone. My oldest was the only grandchild for a few years and they nit picked every thing he did. OMG he touched his food, he's two he should know better by now, take his food away from him. Never mind that my two year old son was sitting quietly he just dared to touch his food. That made him the worst kid in everyones eyes. Well his sister, the golden child had 3 and they run around the table, under neath the table, beat up dear old grandma's legs and bump into other people trying to eat. No one says a freee king word. I was bitter for a time but now I just smile that my children are better behaved and everyone sees it even though they wont admit it.

A friend whose child was in a wheelchair admitted that people saw her kid was handicapped and shut up. Whereas because mine wasn't physically handicapped it was apparently okay to be as horrible as possible.

If the child was a paraplegic, would you folks assume what you've been assuming about the children and parents?


That is true. My nephew has autism and it is very hard to deal with him in public. I know he disturbs people, but he cannot be hidden away.
