ORIGINAL: eulero83 also the simpsons don't get older, just homer got 4 years in 18 seasons, the fact it's they are characters and not person, archetypes if you like, than those shows are not supposed to have a vertical story line so the time is futile. But time is not vertical, it is linear, forwards and backwards (I saw this explained on the pilot episode of Deep Space Nine.) If things happened vertically in time, we would be taller. I meant the main plot that connects all the episodes like the hero chasing his nemesis, maybe I traslated too literally from italian, or you understood what I ment and want to keep it bizarre, but the op was a legitimate question that could lead to an edifying discussion about creative writing. Since when is writing for American Television shows "creative" writing? Mainstream American television is geared to the lowest common denominator, stupidity, even Disney (actually Disney is much worse) which is why any American with an IQ greater than that of the average rock spends our time critiquing American TV shows with six foot tall Pookas.
