Not sure why she would get fired. She was saying what she was told to say. She quoted someone named "Todd Hirsh" who said that gold was backed by nothing and she just repeated it.

not really what she was told to say.. I expect a reporter digs up stories and reports on the findings.. but she didn't really do a very good job of communicating said story which is something a reporter is supposed to be good at.. you know, what is commonly referred to as "the five W's".. heck, I learned that in junior high (middle school)!..

Interesting.

I guess I was just presuming that someone responsible for disseminating news would actually know something about the subject and not repeat ridiculous things like "I was interviewing someone today about the sun and he pointed out something incredible to me, that being that the sun has recently begun setting directly inside Saturn's ring field and there are 23 cats still left on the moon from the last moon landing....both apparently, I'm told, are quite rare".

Come on Man. Really? In today's world of reporting? I am of the age that I remember real reporting like you are referring to. Sad how each network now is in such a rush to have that "scoop" that fact checking goes straight out of the window <sigh>. NOTE: The preceding should have been read with all the "snarkiness" you could muster.

Status: offline 		She isn't a reporter, she's an 'On Air Personality'. Even in the field, she's simply a news reader.

Second, exactly what other substance is gold backed by?

Third, whoever Todd Hirsh is, it hasn't been the job of the media to fact check for decades. That 'Who What Where, When Why and How' stuff went out in junior high.

Reporters just do what they're told. They never really knew much about anything. That should be self-evident from the shoddiness of their product.

What's even more interesting is that I would presume that most consumers would stop purchasing or using an inferior product, but yet, these TV stations remain in business, no matter how many ridiculous things they repeat. Why do people keep watching?
