Capitalism will slowly raise the standard of living in China, if it's (Capitalism) allowed to take hold and work.

Capitalists keep telling us how capitalism is lifting more and more Chinese out of poverty but they never tell you the flip side of how many people tnhey are pushing deeper and deeper into poverty and how many people are in indentured labour which means they are no better than slaves so a miniscule middleclass can grow a little.

And you haven't done it, either, have you now? [8|]

Is the majority enough?.

Have anything to back it up?

Last time I checked, any one of these "slaves" can apply at Boeing, Microsoft or IBM.

Which is arrant nonsense. So because a minority of jobs are well paid, the large minority on low pay only have themselves to blame? Are you employed because with your sort of critical thinking, I can't imagine you doing anything more complex than pressing big buttons.

I press big buttons.

yeah, you cant.... congratulations

No one can.

I had a guy that worked for me 30 years ago. He made 8 bucks an hour (then a somewhat decent wage with overtime...today equal to about 20 bucks or so). His wife didn't work and he had 3 kids, one special needs.

He had 6 months income in the bank, car was paid for, they ate well, had insurance, owned a home.

Same crew, different guy, wife worked, both lived in a single wide on a rented piece of dirt about 80 feet by 25 feet wide, he earned $18.00 an hour, he never failed at least once a month to ask for a draw.

So....was $18.00 not a living wage?

I haven't a clue. That's what the market paid for his services 30 years ago.

Was $8.00 an hour too much considering the other guy had money in the bank, 3 kids and a wife who stayed at home raising kids?

You'd have to ask them.

[sm=rofl.gif] Way to miss Lookie's jab. The use of scare quotes should clue you in.

Actually, it isn't a scare quote because wage slavery is rife in the western world. In a capitalist society, money liberates and if you haven't got money, you are oppressed and detached from mainstream society. Considering the USA and UK have the worst social mobility in the western world, virtually none, there is a lot of wage slavery in both countries and saying people ought to get a better education and job, is just a meaningless platitude.

There's an old saying..."want to be a millionaire? Do what millionaires do".

It's actually quite easy to be financially well off.

It's a LOT of work to be broke.

I swear, it almost sounds like you're trying to tell me that "some people are skilled enough to apply for work at these places".

Like....that some people aren't...to an employer, worth more than $x.xx and so therefore, it's unfair to expect them to apply for a job they aren't qualified for....yet....interestingly...if they had higher skills....someone would find their value high enough to pay them more.

Was that what you were attempting to say?

and since a wage slave is one dependent on one's employment, being a, say, G14 government employee is one wonderful slavehood.[8|]

Why do the rich govern you and you don't govern te rich? Because you are a nobody without money. They give you a vote to use in a gerrymandered shamocracy and you think they have given you the key to your chains. You only vote on which prisoner guard feeds you dinner and which one beats you up.

Jeez! You really do have a slave mentality.

There are far less well paid jobs than educated people. Some 20% of young graduates remain unemployed in the western world or are in jobs that pay minimum or near minimum wage and don't require a university education. Due to technology, high value jobs aren't expected to increase and are expected to decrease. So the idea anyone can get a well paid job is statistically nonsense.

So, please explain to me how it is, with a bought and paid for HS diploma (my father kept me in schools that couldn't afford to kick me out), from a military school in Kentucky (that was 4 years later de-funded by the state for being "inadequate"), that I did well, when so many others floundered? (for the record...some of my senior year questions leaned on things like "what is a Noun?").

How is it that in a short period thereafter, I had a net worth well in excess of a dozen Big Mac meals and a few decades even more still?

"There are far less well paid jobs than educated people."

GET EDUCATED!

Refuse to accept less than you're worth.

Are you worth less?

Great, your pay stub probably professes to that.

Are you worth more?

Prove it.

Other wise....quit fucking whining.

Prove your worth....then earn it.

Anecdotes are not evidence, they are one person's personal experience. You don't need a university education to understand that, it is simple elementary school critical thinking.

I'm not the one who needs educating.

I never suggested as much. Nor would I. You don't have to become anything.

Those however, who want to become more than they are....should (get educated).

Those that prefer to stay where they are....should do as mandated to acquire mediocrity.

It's available for everyone who seeks it.

Ain't nothing wrong with being less than one can be.
