So, this ... self-described "Master" just messaged us offering to sell his slave. Only $500.

He even considerately sent the slave's pictures... one stolen from an existing CM user profile (who lives half a country away from him); and one from Japanese porn forum.

Is $500 a fair price for such an attractive offer?

If he messaged you on CM you need to report him and forward that message to Admin. I am pretty sure it is against TOS to try to sell people on this site.

If slaves are selling for $500 now, the price can only go up. Where can I invest in slave futures?

Yup, reported that message. (was a bit of a challenge what to report for; scam or "vulgar picture"). Also messaged the girl whose photo was used to warn her (assuming of course it's her own photo in the first place, since our cynicism is dialed to 11 today).

@DarkSteven - you need a clearinghouse to accept the futures first, or CFTC will be on your ass (in a non-kinky way).

Also, it's been a while since one of us saw FpML but pretty sure sex slave futures weren't in the spec.

Actually, since the slave was stolen, and you are buying it through a fence, I wouldn't go to $500. After all, if a cop finds you with it, you would be charged with receiving stolen goods and sent to prison where you might end up as the slave of someone that you wouldn't normally associate with.

I'd tend to go with legitimate retailers of tail and be safe, rather than cheap and sorry.
