LittleGirlHeart -> I'm going to the police department and asking them if my litter pick up efforts are legal (2/1/2014 8:09:19 AM)

i am taking all your guyses advicea bout being safe, and knowing what's ok and what's not. I will continue my clean up efforts once i am healed up, but i want to be safe about it. I don't want to get on the wrong side of the pd picking up and trying to be a good samaritan.

I also have taken notes and I am going to the local scrappers here cuz they're on the way to the place i have to go to day and I am fact finding there, so i know for sure what's good and what's not and I don't just have some half brained idea.

I'm working with my dad and James to do this endever safely and not get hurt. every one agrees in my family it's a beautful idea, i just don't know how to safely execute it/

And now, while I am injured and can't procede, i am using this as my get your ducks in a row girl, time.

That's not the proper place to go. You need to talk to your town/city hall.

But the police department is the one gonna come question you nd throw you in jail for criminal trespass or someting if you are accidently in the wrong place at the wrong time.

No they won't. At most, they will remove you from any private property and make sure you stay gone. However, the city can and will fine you a hefty sum for having the tires on your property until you can dispose of them because waste tires are considered a health hazard. If your neighborhood has a homeowners association, they can also fine you.

LittleGirlHeart -> RE: I'm going to the police department and asking them if my litter pick up efforts are legal (2/1/2014 12:37:03 PM)

Ok. But ppl hAving tires they use responcibly is not having hazardous stuff you can be fined.

MalcolmNathaniel -> RE: I'm going to the police department and asking them if my litter pick up efforts are legal (2/1/2014 12:46:46 PM)

Something people don't think about when having tires around: They are the perfect homes for wasps if dry and the perfect homes for mosquito breeding if they have water in them.

Not true. Most cities have ordinances regarding having trash, weeds, and other nuisances on the property. Tires are considered a health hazard because they retain water where mosquitoes can breed and they leach chemicals into the soil which can get into the ground water supply. If you have old tires on your property, you most certainly can be fined and a lien can be placed on the property. If you continue to disregard the citations, you can face jail time. Call your city action center or check your city's website if you don't believe it.

Im not arguing with you. When USED RESPONCIBLY key word responcibly, theyre not hazardous waste, its upcycling, and ppl here have already more than backed my point up.

No one is disputing the tires that you would recycle into planters, swings or whatever your imagination can come up with. It is the tires that you would be storing on your property before you use them that is hazardous and could lead to fines. Since you don't own said property, it would be your dad (not daddy) that would receive the penalties.

What your plans are for the tires is completely irrelevant. The simple fact that you have them on the property is enough to get a citation. The city doesn't care what you intend to do with them, only that you have them.

Get it through your head that you cannot do this without a proper license and renting a commercial location that has been zoned for hazardous waste storage. Go back and actually read what people have said because you are not paying attention and are only hearing what you want to hear.

http://www.finance.saccounty.net/Tax/Documents/GettingDownToBusiness.pdf

I think you should look at this and phone these people - I'm assuming this is your county? You need a permit and a bond for 'junk hauling'. I understand you aren't thinking of making this an official business, but if they're even remotely as strict there as they are here, you will be in financial and legal trouble if you get pulled over while working and don't have the right documents. At the very least, phone and find out exactly how the laws apply to you. Once you are picking up other people's waste and selling it on, you're not just a private citizen recycling your stuff, you're a trader.

None of this is going to happen, because she's now injured.
I hate to say it, but its the usual. Ask for help, ignore everything that's said, and then its not her fault.

Hey it took 2 days this time before an excuse was found not to do anything.
