Diverting federal emergency funds to a project conceived years before hurricane Sandy struck...

This is a whole new and different thing, not related to Brtidgegate or the other corruption charges...In other words (dearest Mods),not another duplicate,Chris Christie thread.

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/01/questions_raised_about_christies_use_of_sandy_funds_to_build_complex_in_town_where_mayor_endorsed_hi.html

Did Gov. Chris Christie use Sandy money for political gain? It’s a question many are asking this week after newly-revealed records show Christie helped channel $6 million from recovery funds to a project conceived years before the storm struck.

Not "new", at all. Actually reported BEFORE the articles about the bridge.

Sorry, but I just do not see this as a corruptible act by the Governor. Everyone has an agenda when money is on the table, right? Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) is simply making a political play since Belleville, NJ is located in Essex County. That would be the county located just north of Union County, New Jersey. An where would the good Senator like that money spent? Why.....within Union County of course! I wonder why....

Is the facility to be used by all Americans in their senior years regardless of income upon entering that are located within Essex County, NJ? Fine, complete the facility, and open it first to those senior citizens whom actually lost their homes first. An then to the ones whose homes were damaged, but repairable but need a place to live. They might simply sell after its fixed up, placing the funds into their accounts. But if this facility is for the rich/super rich to hang out on the citizen's dime, and its provable....THEN....that would be a scandal.

I rather hate the sort of individuals that just go looking for any dirty, regardless of how petty or irrelevant it is and blame it on an elected official. Gov. Christie has his fair share of problems with a situation and a bridge from a few months back. But the evidence presented here show more of people wanting the funding to be placed in their pet projects and using 'Bridgegate' as a convenient excuse to attack the Governor, then of any questionable actions on the part of the governor. Is there additional evidence to support the accusation that the Gov. might have done this for legitimately wrong reasons (i.e. political points rather than 'what's in the best interests of the state"?).

@OP

The investigation into felony misuse of hurricane relief funds... to make a self starring campaign video instead of a PSA, to pay cronies and reject low bidders, to build luxury condos etc. are not new at all.

And neither is the denial that it's a big deal, or the attempt to divert attention back to the 'just a traffic jam, LOOK --- OBAMA!!!'.

IMHO...the governor is far from done...

And he`s chosen to fight. A new memo to friends and supporters says so(read it on Politico). They`re bunkering down for the long haul.

His high priced shark is putting out the attacks/denials...SOP. And the very French sounding Reince Priebus "can`t quit" Chris...want`s him to stay as RGA head (even though Chris`s top aid and RGA #2, got the sack when Chris threw him under the bus.

But to your question....Of course it matters. Do we not prosecute a rapist`s old crimes because he`s been caught on a dozen new ones? Should we feel sorry for them (rich) because the media is reporting all of those crimes individually?

There seems to be a notion that because the guys is getting caught for multiple. unrelated crimes/abuses of power, that he should get a pass for subsequent or additional crimes, abuses of power.

Not true. Justice isn`t just about stopping and catching ass holes and their punishment.....It also very much about the victims and their rights

There also seems to a be a ridiculous but typically republican notion that cons/repubs/nutters who`ve criticized or attacked the President, somehow have a blanket immunity for law breaking....

How this matters PALES in comparison to how the Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS and CIA and FBI scandals matter.

Since you're not in the area, you are clearly ignorant (as in unaware) of the consequences of this particular political play. Basically, Christie paralyzed a city and the access to a neighboring state simply for political gain. What is really happening is that the Pandora's box of Christie's bullying tactics has been opened and the full range of his actions is being exposed.

So people in the political world should get a free pass on accusations of felonies as long as you can keep crying 'Wolf!!'? Or only certain people get a pass?
I don't think so. Neither does the FBI.

Am I the only one who thinks the people 'leaking' this stuff about Christie are connected with the RNC?

After all, he once touched a Democrat and didn't explode or anything.

2016 poll: Hillary Clinton widens Chris Christie lead

Read more: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/02/hillary-clinton-chris-christie-2016-poll-103043.html#ixzz2sJwPzsx7

"Clinton leads the Republican governor by 16 points, 55 percent to 39 percent of the vote among registered voters, a poll by CNN/ORC released Monday shows. In a December CNN poll, Christie held the lead over Clinton 48 percent to 46 percent."

I saw a poll today that said even though Christie has lost ground to our future President,he`s still the frontrunner among republicans....

I saw a commentary which discussed how RIGHT NOW, **IF** Christie had a chance in 2016 he would be lining up the best-of-breed Political Consultants and Staff and more importantly, the moneys. Now, whether he's guilty or innocent is less important than the question "IS HE guilty or innocent?" As long as that question is out there, the moneys isn't going to come to him, and therefore he cant hires the best-of-breed Policital Consultants and Staff.

Jeb Bush, anyone?
