Should work. Sabaton has an album, Carolus Rex that had a special 2-disc set where one disc was in English while the other was Swedish (the group is Swedish). I got the album prior to the special set and my favorite songs sung in English sounded, in Swedish, as if they could have been written for either language perfectly fine. There weren't any glaringly odd rhythms due to different number of syllables or anything like that. Very well done.

For what I understand painting products with stars and stripes sells in the usa as much as a naked woman here, they fambled mixing that kind of message with a "global pice and love" one. Man, if only they could have made the ad with naked women painted in stars and stripes. lol!!

FR Interesting tidbit about "America the Beautiful" author Katharine Lee Bates: "A lifelong, active Republican, Bates broke with the party to endorse Democratic presidential candidate John W. FR I'm neither American nor a big fan of Coke, nor a big fan of advertising. Australia shares many of the issues raised in this thread - immigaration multiculturalism diversity right wingers fixated on a mythical 1950s image of racial and cultural hegemony to name a few of them. I would have been happy had this ad been made about Australia. As for those who claim the ad represents values that are un-American, can I remind them that the motto "E Pluribus Unum" appears on the Seal of the USA and, I believe, appears on US currency too? It's difficult to think of a more American value than that. The ad reflects this motto and value faithfully. 'Out of many one' is a true statement about the cultures and histories of both the USA and Australia. For right wingers to object to the values promoted in this ad is to object to the reality of American (and Australian) history, culture and demographics. It is to object to reality. It makes as much sense as objecting to gravity or the speed of light.

Well, you might say they were trying to sell their product, but it is unlikely they expected to see a surge in purchases on the following day even though they spent about $3 million to place the Ad. The process is more long term and subtle. They were associating their brand with some feel good images and music but to some extent it backfired because there are many here as in all countries who are suspicious of immigrants who don't speak the dominant language. OTOH, mostly any publicity is good publicity. Language and culture bind a nation together and give it identity. Many newcomers of different cultures can be very threatening to the core values of the nation. I think you are experiencing the same in Europe. We have always had an anti-immigrant, nativist cohort in America even though that might seem counterintuitive for a nation that has a welcoming statue of liberty in her eastern harbor and touts itself as a land of equal opportunity.

I'm Jewish. I married a Catholic and lived in a Mormon state, where a third of my coworkers were Muslims. I learned Spanish and tutored Native Americans. I have the been the only ethnically different person in rooms of American Indians, blacks, Iranian Americans, and Catholics. I have topped American Indians, Caucasians, blacks, and Asians. I don't know if I could even really understand a world that wasn't polycultural.

First post. I HATED this ad! I'm MALTA....Mixed A Long Time Ago. I read that somewhere recently and had to laugh, but it's true. Part of my ancestors had their land stolen by the other group of ancestors that came to America and another part of the family tree was brought over in chains. I initally wanted to never buy another coke zero after that ad, but then I realized coca cola has world wide distribution and even if all born in the USA citizens boycott them they won't notice. This "melting pot" that is our country is BOILING OVER!! Time to impose MUCH tougher immigration laws AND get VERY PICKY about whom we let in. Call me a bigot if you want, I know who and what I am. I'm just damned sick and tired of seeing want ads in America demanding that I speak spanish, farsi, tagalog, chinese I mean give an AMERICAN a fucking break! AND it's time for the USofA TO DECLARE ENGLISH as our official language! Let the hate begin lol.....that's all of you who will call me a teabagger or republican. I am a proud tree hugging, liberal democrat living in cali most of my life, so there goes THAT theory.
