So the CBO (that's the Congressional Budget Office for players who had a different version of Schoolhouse Rock) has upped their estimate on the number of jobs that will be lost because of the Obamacare fiasco. 2.3 million.

So the question is, what new "scandalous," Republican activity will be used to push this off the front page, and distract from the realities of what the Democrats have inflicted on the people of the U.S.?

Haters are going to hate. They sure the fuck can't govern.

"The Explosive CBO Report On Obamacare Wasn't As Explosive As It Seemed"

"But the headlines didn't entirely reflect what the CBO was saying. The health care law wouldn't cause those jobs to be eliminated by employers. In fact, the nonpartisan CBO's report specifically stated, "there is no compelling evidence that part time employment has increased as a result of the ACA."

Rather, the CBO was projecting that employees would be encouraged to leave the work force entirely, or shift to part-time work, for two reasons. The first is that their access to affordable insurance is no longer linked to their employer. The second is that because the subsidized health care available from the law is linked to income, it creates a disincentive to earn above a certain threshold.

This prompted a lot of pointed questions. Should public policy encourage people to work shorter hours or make less money in hopes of getting a larger tax subsidy? Would people find themselves worse off if they decide to forgo salary in exchange for cheaper health insurance? On a broader level, what kind of impact would that have on the country's gross domestic product?"

The CBO finds that the equivalent of 2 million full-time jobs are being worked every year by people who are de facto indentured servants to their employers due to the broken health insurance system in this country. Republicans are ENRAGED!!! ... because that indentured servitude is coming to an end.

I think its wonderful. I know a lot of people who wanted to retire early and their sole reason for staying on the job was because they needed health insurance. I suspect that because health insurance is no longer inextricably linked to employment there will also be more people free to start their own businesses.

cantor tells bogus facts, obviously was fed lines by his staff and made him look like a twat
CBO and fact check point out his little bogus mistakes.

http://www.factcheck.org/2014/02/the-aca-losing-job-vs-choosing-not-to-work/

And Im here to give the link to the actual CBO report

http://www.cbo.gov/sites/default/files/cbofiles/attachments/45010-Outlook2014.pdf

Page 117

CBO, Feb. 4: The estimated reduction stems almost entirely from a net decline in the amount of labor that workers choose to supply, rather than from a net drop in businesses’ demand for labor, so it will appear almost entirely as a reduction in labor force participation and in hours worked relative to what would have occurred otherwise rather than as an increase in unemployment (that is, more workers seeking but not finding jobs) or underemployment (such as part-time workers who would prefer to work more hours per week).

Page 125

In CBO’s judgment, there is no compelling evidence
that part-time employment has increased as a result of
the ACA. On the one hand, there have been anecdotal
reports of firms responding to the employer penalty by
limiting workers’ hours, and the share of workers in parttime
jobs has declined relatively slowly since the end of
the recent recession. On the other hand, the share of
workers in part-time jobs generally declines slowly after
recessions, so whether that share would have declined
more quickly during the past few years in the absence of
the ACA is difficult to determine.21 In any event, because
the employer penalty will not take effect until 2015,
the current lack of direct evidence may not be very
informative about the ultimate effects of the ACA

But it IS amazing that nobody on the right has mentioned the million of unemployed who just lost their benefits, and agree with the texas congress idiot(pete sessions) who stated "it would be "immoral" to extend benefits to the longterm unemployed."
and that number grows by 70,000 a week and stands at 1.6 million affected.

Yeah.. funny how you left this out:

“About 31 million nonelderly residents of the United States are likely to be without health insurance in 2024, roughly one out of every nine such residents.”
Now the CBO is saying is that in 10 years, about the same number of people will lack insurance as before. This, after new expenditures of as much as $2 trillion and a colossal disruption of the US medical system.

now why didnt you fill out the full paragraph
CBO and JCT estimate that the insurance coverage provisions
of the ACA will markedly increase the number of
nonelderly people who have health insurance—by about
13 million in 2014, 20 million in 2015, and 25 million
in each of the subsequent years through 2024
(see
Table B-2). Still, according to estimates by CBO and
JCT, about 31 million nonelderly residents of the United
States are likely to be without health insurance in 2024,
roughly one out of every nine such residents. Of that
group, about 30 percent are expected to be unauthorized
immigrants and thus ineligible for most Medicaid benefits
and for the exchange subsidies; about 20 percent will
be eligible for Medicaid but will choose not to enroll;
about 5 percent will be ineligible for Medicaid because
they live in a state that has chosen not to expand coverage;
and about 45 percent will not purchase insurance
even though they have access through an employer, an
exchange, or directly from an insurer.

oh and when are you going to be providing all those sources you swore you had and would provide.... in previous threads????

The fantasy is always much more important than the reality with the far right. What's funny is the Republican have tried to take the title of the "JOB CREATORS" but when the hold the executive, they rarely achieve very much.

Republicans are ENRAGED!!! ... because that indentured servitude is coming to an end.

No it's not. It's just been shifted over to serving the government instead.

If they really want to talk about indentured servitude they should take a look at the student loan program.

CBO Director: Actually, Obamacare Will Reduce Unemployment
President Obama's health care reform law isn't going to kill 2.5 million jobs, Congressional Budget Office director Douglas Elmendorf told the House Budget Committee on Wednesday.

One day after multiple media outlets misinterpreted a CBO report on Obamacare, Elmendorf clarified the CBO's position during the hearing. The federal agency, Elmendorf said, had found Obamacare “spurs employment and would reduce unemployment over the next few years."
