Thank You, Thank You all! :)

I might have mentioned before, that I'm not looking for that. At least, not at this moment. But, you can't ignore when signals go off in your brain telling you that maybe something needs my attention :)

And the best thing I could do is take the time to look at what is, or isn't going on. Peace of mind, its always better to be safe than sorry ;)

the internet has tons of alt numbers, just knowing which one you're comfortable with :) Again, than you guys for your responses.

I've known people who wish not to advertise their real name and address for security reasons because they don't want crazies stalking the through an ISP. In, fact, I was forced to change where I lived because of a stalker, so I seldom used correct information even online, to prevent being traced through an ISP.

Thank You for bringing that, definitely alternative "darkside", of IT to my attention. Always good to keep yourself secure. I was partnered with a QA/IT/Developer, for a moment. but being here, never thought of those kind of realities here. I'm sorry You had to go thru such. fucken assholes. but, thank you. hope all is well :)

~ fast reply ~

I usually surf with at least one mask. I think I'm "in Germany" right now, but I might be wrong. It's just good policy, which I would recommend to everyone. The Huffington Post alone has at least 10 active tracking programs on their home page, perfectly legal, and standard industry practice. I don't see any reason to tell people I don't know who I am or where I'm going.

Switching ip's can be interesting and will be an indicator to me that 'maybe' things aren't on the up and up. If they are getting on by cell phone or something, that doesn't mean much for location. If it changes drastically, I would be watching for other signs and if they are there... I would be walkin not talkin.

I have two questions related to this thread.

Question 1 is HOW do you know what IP address that a user is sending a message from? I can't see anyone's IP address - so - while the information would be useful - the only people who have the IP address, I think, are the Collarme Admins.

Question 2 is still unanswered, I think. The original poster asked about TIME STAMPS. I don't know what time stamps are used, but I assume (and you know what that means), I assume that there is one universal time stamp for ALL of collarme, and that is the time stamp that is used on the forums and email posts.

Is it not?

I totally enjoy the different perspectives and angles everyone is responding from.... Totally brings a lot of IT possibilities to light. ie: the ability to log in from your physical location versus whatever location your "server" (not sure if that's the most appropriate term), is registering you at. Where I totally see where the IP/ISP comes in....

Currently, am not as concerned as I was initially. but because of all the input, makes me feel free to keep speaking....

..... I guess where the "time stamp" question comes into play is that, I'm sure everything we read and receive on our own personal end....
Is relative to our personal time zone... Probably, the more specific question should have been, I understand some people's PCs/Laptops have the capability to run Two Different OS's simultaneously. So, if One user was doing such, they would have the ability to set One OS for Whatever Time Zone/Location they chose. Therefore, their interface could reflect a time they're not in... lol, now I don't feel so silly going into it, because it is totally possible, but still dumb for allowing such encounters to make me suspect such. As I may have stated in the beginning, I have other reasons as to why I continued to communicate with such user. I probably, pretty much already know the, more personal, answers to my questions..

Just thought I would give an attempt to explain myself further. Thank You ALL for your responses. :)

Time zones and Time stamps can help but they don't always tell the full story. People can use vpns to pretty much pop up wherever they like. Not only can you change your computer's time internally but your ip can be ghosted.

When it comes to phone numbers same thing. I can give a phone number to someone that is nowhere near my home location. As a cam model I do that quite a bit. Guy gets my number thinking "hahah finally he can blow my phone off the hook and is met with " this number has been disconnected or no longer in service".

Even requests for skype and yahoo are met with Why? The site has a built in chat feature so if you have something to say get to it.

Speaking of features.. I'm going to go back to playing another few rounds of Tetris:)

Thank you! I also do enjoy the game features here ;)

Just as your response, straight bottom lined, answered my inquiry. Like I had acknowledged, if I can question the possibility of such, is because I KNOW it can be done. I'm sure many of us know how it goes sometimes, You just have to say it aloud outside of your mind, for you to really "hear" what you're saying.... and then again, just means, I probably already knew the answer to my question. Many, many, Thanks to you and everybody that's got in on this subject.

another thing is the savvy users can hide the ip address there using that's how that spice road thing works it is not visible to the mainframe as a location and so can be also made to look like anywhere when it is looked at by a comp jock.
just fyi
