Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee said that the new Congressional Full Employment Caucus will “give President Obama a number of executive orders that he can sign.” Jackson Lee added that writing up executive orders “should be our number one agenda.” Congress should be disbanded. All's needed is a new and improved Office of Executive Orders. Gives me a warm fuzzy. It does, it does[;)] Next up could be the Office of Executive Opinions. Bye bye SCOTUS. I mean, why not? Obama said there is not a smidgen of corruption in the IRS scandal. So, make it so[;)] Whee, this executivising is easy[:D]

FR Funny how when W was issuing all those executive orders saying he had no intent to obey laws passed by congress it was perfectly ok with cons but President Obama says he intends to sign some, not contravening any laws, and suddenly it is the end of the Republic.

Give Frank a break [:D] That little kerfluffle only netted us just over 900 EO's (including all of 1941's EO's, even though, technically, WWII hadn't happened for us until quite late in 1941). So, 2600 in his first 8 years (all prior to WWII). Or, are you saying that I should spot him some since he was too busy with WWII to pump up his totals? [8D]

A good analogy would be a boat leaking and in trouble with many precious lives aboard... What the republicans are doing is tantamount to interfering with the boat and crew`s rescue effort... In real life, anyone interfering in a rescue or hampering it would get anywhere from beat up......to shot-up....I would prefer the "2nd Amendment remedy" as cons put it. In any case....NO ONE is going to back the blood guzzling psychopaths in the geopee-pee, who`re trying to stick it to the unemployed.

Yeah. It's been a problem for a while. Originally, Congress had the power to enact bills, while the President did nothing more than sign or veto. Slowly, over the years, the Executive branch has become more powerful while Congress has become increasingly impotent. For me, the low point was when Nixon created the concept of "executive privilege", which basically means that the President has the ability to declare himself above the law.

Since so many piss and moan about the two parties, you'd think more would have the guts to step into the center...the two parties, their bribery for votes, and their loyalists all be damned.

Too bad for Nixon, that privilege is cancelled out by checks and balances. I dislike him personally for his withdrawl from the Bretton Woods but I digress. Three words: WORST. CONGRESS. EVER. Executive orders?! I`m shocked! [8D] Forgetting the nauseating hypocrisy ....let`s compare the executive orders of say Obama and shrub. Shrub did a lot of actual damage(dead Americans) through his EOs and his abuse of the war powers act....put our economy to death by a thousand cuts.... Obama is helping Americans....and stopping the republicans from hurting us.....the government shutdown being the most illustrative but far from the only example. The lunatic fringe is now threatening another default....[8\|]
