And next time you're thinking to yourself "I need you to hold me", say it in words. Do not expect your partner to be a mind reader.
He may never understand why you feel the way you do, and that's okay, but if you ask for what you need and receive it, that should be enough.

The one time things went really wrong here, he stopped immediately and held me down while all I wanted was to lock myself away from him. What we did afterward was go back to the very beginning and play for some months consisted solely of things he was positive I would enjoy. Sensual play only because he knew that would get a good reaction from me.

Haha yeah, he'd left the room before I even hit reality enough to notice he'd gone, so I couldn't exactly tell him.

I suppose it never occurred to me how important aftercare is. I've only had emotional reactions like that after one previous time, and that was because it was pretty vicious and "It hurts doesn't it? It hurts a lot. Good. That's what I want" I was... pretty messed up knowing how much that type of utter contempt came out during play, and how much I enjoyed that. I never voiced anything. I just couldn't look at him for a day - I thought it was just odd, off the wall emotions I should ignore.
