So I'm wondering if you guys have blond moments like I do.

Today hubby and I were watching a movie and he said "hey babe, it's snowing"
And without thinking I said "outside??"

Now in my defense I was thinking he might have meant on the movie. He refuses to believe that.
His response was "no, in the kitchen"

Care to share a blond moment?
(No offense blonds)

No, but I still get calls for my mom from AARP, insurance companies etc which would be okay except that she has been dead for six years.

My standard answer is, "She is dead right now, but as soon as she comes home I will have her call you."

Since legally I am allowed to have blonde moments and tell blonde jokes (and before LP gets in on this My grey hair IS just a different shade of blonde), I did have one last night. LP says "I can't find My hair scrunchies, I need to get the ones out of the truck". I turn to her and say "I got them out of the truck the other night and handed them to you. I don't know what YOU did with them". So, this morning We get in the truck to drive to Fairbanks, and She turns to Me and says "Uh, babe... those hair scrunchies you said You brought me from the truck... yeah, they are sitting right here". Talk about a "DOH" kind of moment. So I said "well I know I must have done it at least once for You. It seemed so real last night".

We don't do 'blonde' moments.
As a friend of ours once said - it's discriminating against those with lighter shades of hair.

So....
What we have instead are "CRAFT" moments.
"Can't Remember A Fucking Thing"
Seems to be less discriminatory.

Every single day.

Can't think of one at this very moment but I have blond moments at least once a day I think. And I'm not even blond!

Well two nights ago I accidentally washed a tea cup in the clothes washer. Does that count?

I resemble that remark (and I'm blond)! Sometimes we call it being stricken with CRS (Can't Remember Sh*t).

Isn't this "hair pigmentation disorder"... Sounds like I could get disability for this.

my blond moment is usually forgetting the names of things....

me: "that thing over there, you know....that thing <as I'm pointing>

Master:" what thing? That thingy over there? You mean the refrigerator?"

me: "YES! the refrigerator....Can you get the uumm....eeerrrmmm....gah...that green thing on the side of the door....eerr...what is it called? Oh fuck it! Nevermind. I'll get it myself".

Master: <laughing> your computer? how about your shoes? Did you put your purse in the fridge again?"

me:<whispering under my breath.....cute, very cute!>

Me to my boss: " remember that new thing we were talking about yesterday?"

Boss: "the list program?"

Me: "Noooo....I already did that. The other thing...you know, what **** wanted so she could complete her project."

Boss: "the earnings form project?"

Me: "nooooo....<as I'm clicking my fingers and wracking my brain for either the name of the thing from yesterday or the program name> aahh...ooohhh....I can't remember the name of it right now. I'll send you an email when I remember the name of it".

Boss: laughs at me, shakes his head...."You do that. Maybe we can both then remember what we talked about yesterday!"

My worst one happened, probably 20 years ago or so. I was working on some home project, and had gathered up several different tools from various locations. I was just about ready to start the project when I thought, "Oh yeah, I'm going to need a pair of pliers." I started looking for them, knowing full well that I had seen them very recently, but couldn't remember where. After about 20 minutes of looking in various drawers, cupboards, and on shelves I finally found them. I had been carrying them in my hand the whole time.

A few years ago in a meeting at work, I was commenting on a report we were reviewing.

Me: This is a great report and presentation. Who put *this* together??

Everyone: YOU did!

Oh.

All the time!

I've stopped calling them blonde moments, though, since I'm starting to think I have them much more than any blonde I know.

I have way too many thoughts flowing through my mind at every moment and apparently cannot be bothered by small things. Such as that wall I may run into later. Or, trying to leave the house without putting shoes on.

I went to work with different color shoes one time.....a brown one and a black one.

All the time. Mister P61 might appreciate this one. When I was in the Reserves, we had a Class A inspection scheduled for our January drill. I got my uniform fucking perfect down to the last thread, and my shoes were black mirrors. I mean you could literally see yourself in them. Because it was sloppy weather that day, I wore a pair of grubbies for the drive in so they wouldn't get messed up. I get there with my usual five minutes to spare and fell in...wearing those same beat-up sneakers. There was no time to go back and get them, so I had to wait there until it was over. First shirt was pretty cool and let me 're-report' in 'proper' uniform afterwards.

As a side note, I never had a gig-free inspection the entire time I served.

Was collecting the trash. Since my driveway is a quarter mile long, we drive the cans down. Okay all the garbage is ready to go, but I can't find my glasses. Look everywhere, finally dump everything out of the garbage cans. Yup, I dropped them in.

I can relate. Did the same but in a regular "in ranks" that they did on Tuesdays in the 3rd ACR. Wore My beat up combats with the intent of switching to My perfect shiny combats (back when we had to shine them, and I am glad we wear tan suede now). So yeah sitting there with My crisp, pefect creased BDU's and a pair of almost grey boots on. Needless to say I was not the one who got told they had the day off and report for PT the next day.

Side note. I did ask one of My Platoon Sergeants one time why, even though almost every time, no matter how closely you inspected your uniform prior, they would find one little gig. He said plainly that it was because they wanted to show that there is no perfection and we can always improve. It wasn't to break a soldier down but to have them constantly strive towards that improvement. I still use this principle Myself. It made sense. Many a soldier has hated Me for it, but if they ever ask I tell them the same thing, then they get it.

Re: shining boots. I almost strangled when they dropped the old 'black boots' just a year after I got out. I learned to put a mean shine on my LPCs even before I signed up (JROTC). I still can't leave the house unless my boots are 'correct', even my civvy work boots. Hell, if I have leather sneakers I can put a shine on them.

Personally, I like the suede boots. With that said, yeah I could put a shine on My boots like mirrors. I just hated all the time I had to spend to do it. Not so fond of the ACU's though. I mean velcro? Really? Real tactical to be on a mission and all of a sudden you hear a soldier open a pocket with that sound of velcro coming apart... RRRRRIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPP

I noticed that when my friend's kid came home. Not to mention that velcro gets jammed up with lint and dirt until it's unusable. Give me the old-fashioned buttons any day. I can see velcro for patches and tabs that don't get used regularly, but not for something that has to be used a lot during the course of the day.
