Any recommendations for ways to meet people on social level without pressure to get involved? I'd especially like to meet other subs and enjoy a sense of camaraderie.

That's what munches were invented for. If you've never been to one, it's just a gathering of folks who happen to be kinky, in a vanilla setting (like a bar or restaurant). There's no play, and no one will be dressed in leathers. You can just chat and get to know people who have similar interests.

If you're not already, I suggest you get on fetlife and search by your city to see your nearest one.
