To understand this completely not-serious question, allow me to give a bit of background.

There's a website called Keen that I have used for a few years to do Tarot readings. I don't advertise and don't make much. I log in a couple of times a month when I want a little extra mad money for things like buying Valentine's gifts for my wonderful and amazing partners.

Recently, I discovered there's another side to Keen designed for other services like tax or relationship advice. There's also the option to engage in social chat/flirting. The closest comparison I can think of is phone sex, except these chat lines don't allow any sort of adult conversation. Of course, that doesn't mean people don't call for reasons that might be considered adult-oriented.

I just had a call from a guy, whose name I can't remember, who told me he likes to be told to tip. He wants it to be done sweetly, with no humiliation involved. Okay, sure, I can do that. During our conversation, he asked about my plans for Valentine's Day. I made up something about going out and told him he should tip me to pay for my date.

Lo and behold, he did! I told him to call back next weekend and I'd tell him all about the date and post-date activities. I have no idea whether or not he'll actually call back, but I'm dying laughing over here. Is this what findommes do? I have to admit it was kind of a rush. Is this the appeal? Does this mean I'm a cuckolding findomme now?

I don't want to go into too much detail. Let's just say it was more than $10 but less than $50. At this point, I guess I'm just a green newb. Maybe I should wait to see if he calls back before deciding I'm a findomme or a cuckoldress.

I actually asked him why he didn't call NiteFlirt. He said he didn't like the graphic nature of the site or the humiliation most "findommes" there dish out. I've asked a few other callers why they don't call a sex line and most of them said they don't like how overt it is. Apparently, they want a "girlfriend experience" or something. I have no idea. I just thought it was funny considering how many findomme rant threads we get around here. [:)]

Years ago I was on Keen and NF, less for the money but more just for being morbidly curious, made pretty much the same experience, the guys rang the relationship advise line and wanted some really mild domination and financial control from somebody they thought was vanilla. I was never really into the findomme thing, but sorted out a few guys by putting them on a budget and had them report back to me (and sent out tons of free minutes - do they still have them?), there are a lot of guys who just want to have the GFE, they got it, LOL, a few of them were also persuaded that they would show servitude by donating to their local shelters.

To be honest, I think a ton of guys are a bit into the whole findomme thing but terrified of the leather and whips, and they just like to be told what to do, without all the "weird stuff"

I don't know anything about NF so I can't comment intelligently on that. Keen does still have free minute promotions and advisers can send free minutes if they want. I quit sending free minutes on the psychic side because too many people only want freebies and they leave bad ratings if you don't answer all their questions within that time.

I've only started doing the chat side of Keen in the past couple of months so I'm still figuring it out. Some callers want relationship advice and a few want to get explicit. Most fall somewhere in the middle - they want sexy flirting without too much graphic content or they want to tell me about their exploits, but in an exhibitionist way, almost like a flasher. I think you're right about them wanting a "vanilla" girl rather than one who is into phone sex. It's almost like they want to see if I'll be shocked.

I haven't been on both sides for ages, they used to be one and the same then split into the adult and non-adult one....

I think part of it is bragging rights, you're getting paid to listen and to make the appropriate noises, so they feel all studly, and I think some of them want to feel like they've pulled (with the flirting and the tipping), because they pay but they aren't paying for an adult service. A bit like "The waitress keeps smiling at me, OK, I tip her a tenner each time she serves me, but I bet she really likes me..."

No harm done, they get an ego boost, you get cash...

As I said, years ago I had the Keen listing, and I thought I could give relationship adivse to people who wanted to carefully introduce kink into their relationship, there was this guy who used to ring up time and time again, claiming he was too well equipped to have normal sex (according to his own description, it would have been technically impossible for him to be ever erect without fainting, however he claimed the women couldn't accommodate him), basically all his calls were how he turns the women on, what he does (yeah, take a wild guess), and all he wanted to hear was "I'm sure that really drove her wild| - until this day I'm convinced that he was everything but overly blessed or a freak of nature.... He just needed somebody to listen to his fantasies.

So he was another John Holmes, was he? (Yeah, right.)

The most entertaining caller I've had spun some yarn about breaking up with his girlfriend after losing his job and then he met a rich, gay guy who is now keeping him as a slave in exchange for room and board. He's allowed to call Keen when "master" is out of town on business because there's a humiliation factor involved with calling a woman and describing his exploits. H also likes me to tell him how many clothespins to use for his self-inflicted CBT. But he's not allowed to call NF because "master" doesn't want him to enjoy himself too much and there will be punishment if he does. *snort*

I don't believe half of what some of these guys tell me, but I have to admit they're good for a laugh.
