Can you please tell me the difference between:

a. Putting a man sexually attracted to men in a locker room full of naked men and,
b. Putting a man sexually attracted to women in a locker room full of naked women?

I assume that what he is, is sufficient to make his teammates uncomfortable.

Just like a man in a locker room full of naked women.

A man who needs to use a women's locker room because they play the same team sport?

He isn't there just to leer.
And that is why a guy in the women's locker room is out of place.
He has no legitimate reason to be there.

In this case, if the team mates have an issue with him when he isn't doing anything inappropriate, then that is their problem.

Actually, that's a fair attempt at a response- the first one- and if you really believe that's the major difference, then you're not dishonest, it's just that your opinion is.... I'm not sure TOS will let me describe your opinion fully.... so I'll just try "incredibly naive" and leave it at that.

He is a man... a man should shower with men... If he were to get a sex change then she should shower with women.

Uni-sex bathrooms are becoming common... although men and women are attracted to each other do they really have to fuck or can they just take a leak?

Same with Sam... can't he just take a shower after the game without sucking cock?

You shouldn't ask such easy questions.

Does the man have a legitimate reason to be in the locker room?
Being a member of the same sports team does qualify as a provisional yes.

We aren't putting a random man into a locker room of either gender.

A team mate (who happens to be gay) is in the locker room.
He may or may not be in the closet.
He still has a legitimate reason to be there.

Give me a legitimate reason why a man would be in a locker room full of naked women unless he was a first responder of some kind.

If a guy's job is playing football then it is a part of his job to be in the locker room.

Edit: clarity.

You seem to have a really low opinion of professional football players.

He is there to do a job:

This whole incident reminds me of a threat I read over on fetlife about gays in the military. This is one of the very few times that someone posted claiming to be a special forces guy and I found it utterly believable. His perspective on "gays in the military"??

"We have a gay guy in our unit. He's big. He's mean. He kills lots of bad guys. We like him."

I might think that pro football players are not that different. These are people who are passionate about WINNING. They clearly have focus. I gotta believe it's mostly the second raters and hangers on (coaches and commentators and whatnot) who have time for the hand-wringing.

Oh, and +1 for moonhead's answer LOL.

First. The most common applicable definition of "common" appears to be something like "occurring frequently". So: where?

Second. Uni-sex bathrooms seem to have a feature in, uh, common: privacy. That is a feature lacking in locker rooms. Even if the team misguided enough to draft Sam and thus incur his sure-to-follow lawsuits builds facilities with some degree of privacy, there is still the problem of road games....

I think what I have is experience, and accurate memories of that experience, as a young straight male in athletic and military locker rooms, bathrooms, and shower facilities....

My... reticence has abated somewhat with age. I am less easily offended as a 62-year-old confirmed perv than I was as a young man in my 20s. Of course, I am also much more experienced and comfortable with sudden violence.

kdsub -> RE: Texas Sports Anchor Delivers Jaw-Dropping Speech On Gay NFL Players (2/15/2014 8:36:46 PM)

They are pretty common around my area don't know about yours. I wouldn't call a thin metal wall private... I mean you can still smell and hear.

I answered your question what about mine... should men shower with men.. or isn't a gay man a man?

Butch

What area is that?

The idea is, and was, that people disinterested in each other sexually could share shower facilities without causing as many unfortunate incidents as vice versa.
That the idea wasn't isn't perfect doesn't mean it isn't sound.

No the idea is people who are dirty need a shower...and if they are men they should shower with men... Only you seem to have trouble separating showers and crappers from sex.

No, of course not.

Particularly in the 82nd, unwanted physical homosexual contact would very often have carried severe consequences. It would have been almost unthinkable at the high school I attended. Let's just say that humor directed at homosexuals was neither uncommon nor frowned upon....

The fact remains, though, that straight people consider homosexual acts... well, distasteful is the weakest word that I think applies. And they do not want leered at in the shower....

The same was once true for "humor" targeting blacks, Jews, and Latinos.

Fortunately, our society seems to be outgrowing such blatant bigotry.

Or maybe it's just, I can't resist, in the closet.

truckinslave -> RE: Texas Sports Anchor Delivers Jaw-Dropping Speech On Gay NFL Players (2/15/2014 9:21:03 PM)

LOL
It was indeed a different time, and our society has not changed solely for the worse.
Yet, my question is valid.

Should Sam be able to pursue a career in... whatever? Absolutely.
Are straight men the slime of the earth if they don't want to get naked with him?
No.

dcnovice -> RE: Texas Sports Anchor Delivers Jaw-Dropping Speech On Gay NFL Players (2/15/2014 9:30:44 PM)

Just so I Have this straight (so to speak):

The point you've belabored for two pages now stems from 40-year-old memories of all-male bastions in which no harm came your way?

Straight men are really so weak and insecure that the mere presence of a gay guy freaks them out?

Dear God, this line of "argument" is lame enough to qualify for the ADA.

Then again, I suspect it's actually the work of a brilliant satirist creating a 21st-century Archie Bunker.

Stating the [very] obvious: nor are they the slime of the earth if they decide it is just another day at the 'office'.

His current team-mates don't have an issue.
Why do you think it will be different in the NFL?

Doesn't this presume that they are "pretty enough" to be leered at?

Not everyone wants muscle on their partner, or they might prefer someone smaller, or of the same ethnic background; they might think the person they look at is a steroid freak or a workout nut, or find them attractive (or not) for any number of reasons.

If I had to use a public showering area with a gay man, would I assume he was automatically attracted to me? No, of course not, why would I, that's like assuming every vag I encounter at work wants to crawl under my desk for a shot of cock whiskey. I'm not quite that egotistical, and anyone who is, should have to deal with the consequence of their neuroses.

By that logic, those women who are not "pretty enough" do not mind men in their locker room.
