PeonForHer -> High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/18/2014 3:46:20 PM)

Has anyone downloaded one of these to his/her pooter and played it at full blast to enjoy hours of fun tormenting their pets? It occurred to me, anyway, that there's little point in buying a special gadget that'll emit such a noise to get rid of, say, rats or mice, when you can just download a freebie program to your pc and play it full blast through your pc speakers.

I downloaded one and tried the recommended frequency at full blast on the corpulent ginger tom that regularly sits just outside my front window, but it continued sitting there, obesely, apparently entirely unfazed by my auditory assault.

Bullhorn. Dog whistle.

Poor kitty. You should feed him and let him in to get warm.

Just sayin [:(]

Personally, I do not find annoying my dogs a recreational pass time. In fact I feel that anyone that goes out of his or her way to annoy animals to be lacking in some compassion.

It is also a known trait of psychopathy to purposely torture animals for personal enjoyment.

Given the source, what else could you expect?

Try a squirt... well, I was going to say a squirtgun, but we'll say a spray bottle set to "stream." Open the window up just enough that you can... well, I was going to say get a shot, but we'll go with project a narrow column of water at it.

The sorts of people I find to be decent human beings would at least put a little food out, or befriend a neighborhood cat making his rounds, but you don't seem to be considering that option.

Do keep in mind that he very likely helping to control the rodents on your immediate area, so you might need something for mice/rats, if you succeed in running him off.

I play cat sounds off of YouTube to irritate my cats, but they just come and step all over the computer trying to investigate.

Just put some tuna out, and realize you have a cool new cat-bro.

All my cats hates being carried, I annoy them enough by carrying and cuddling them.

FrostedFlake -> RE: High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/18/2014 7:41:26 PM)

The pet I was thinking of is the yap-dog, across the street. He can go for 6-7 hours. Unless his owner says something, then, it's like turning off a light. The obvious is, the dog is making noise FOR the owner. He is in no way out of control.

This is going to sound dumb as hell.........

I have found something that annoys My cat Nermal. It was inspired by this, courtesy of SylvereApLeanan:

It's not required to actually lick the cat. Somehow, this creature who licks herself on a regular basis is very particular about any human tongue anywhere near her. Confused the heck out of the cat and left Me with a laughing fit for a good ten minutes. In short, peon, try licking some pussy.

PeonForHer -> RE: High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/19/2014 2:37:13 AM)

FrostedFlake: bullhorns and dog whistles would take effort. Anniez: if you're talking of Mr Porker (my name for the massive ginger tom of the OP), he's *always* warm. I've seen him fall asleep on snow-covered cars before. He has more natural padding on him than a walrus. Jlf, please lighten up. No animals have been harmed and I don't, despite my jocular tone, go around harming them. LafayetteLady: deranged and lunatic comment, as usual. Lynnx: he doesn't need *more* food and I'm wary of feeding other people's cats these days, since my mother's ill cat died after being fed against vet's orders by a neighbour some years ago. LadyPact: yes, I probably do need to lick more pussy. However, Mr Porker always legs it if I try to creep up to him with my tongue out. Greta: I'm not sure I could lift Mr Porker without pulling a hernia.

TH: your suggestion that Mr Porker might control rodents (presumably just by being there - it's beyond the imagination that he'd ever chase anything that could actually move) reminds me of a cat that I used to feed when I was living at one of my former homes. This was infested with rats (as a result of a broken sewer). The scent of the cat didn't put off the rats, though, I'm afraid. I never let the cat in actually to chase any rats - I was always worried that any rat might get a bite in on the cat before getting killed and give the cat blood poisoning.

But, had PCs been invented, I might never have moved house. I could have set up a high frequency noise that might have got rid of them, forever. Interesting. I wonder if that works?

I have 8 cats, and when they lick each other, that's how they lick each other!!!
But cat tongue is rather rough and dry. Our human tongue is too much like dog's tongue for them to enjoy it.

I hate it when a dog licks me, but I love it when a cat licks me.

My cat also lick my lips, my nose, my eye lids.

LadyConstanze -> RE: High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/19/2014 5:23:30 AM)

My cats hate being licked by the girl dog, because she really washes them (as in good thorough cleaning that leaves them soaking wet), the boy just gives them little dry licks and nozzles, which they seem to love.

Peon, any particular reason why the cat annoys you? Is he spraying or just sitting there? If he'd be just sitting there, it wouldn't phaze me much. Though I can possibly send you some sound recordings of noses the doggies make when asked if they want to go for walkies or would like food (or ever popular if the window cleaner comes round), it might move the big ginger tom.
We had a problem with a really morbidly obese black and white tom who used to beat up the smaller one of our cats and crept into the house (stealing cat food), Nuggy shot in and hid under Kia, Kia decided to tell the cat off, never seen that blob move so fast, looked like a gigantic donut camouflaging as a frisby, the problem was that in his hurry he took the catflap out too and we had to repair the door and buy a new catflap.

Yes, he is an idler and scrounger. He should get a job or face the harshest benefits sanctions.

Nah, he doesn't really annoy me, Lady C. Except that he doesn't have to do anything to live, whereas I do. On the other hand, I'm quite bright, while he's thickie.

Lynnxz -> RE: High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/19/2014 9:07:00 AM)

Now that you've clarified, I'm pretty sure the cat knows you hate him. He's going to continue to stare at you because fuck you, he's a cat.

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: High Frequency Sound Programs to Annoy Pets (2/19/2014 9:27:32 AM)

I was watching "My Cat From Hell" and they showed a cool device that's a motion-activated can of air that emits an offending *puff* if a cat comes near, good for doorways and furniture you don't want them to be near.

As for downloading a noise file to your PC so you can play it...why bother when all you have to do is set your radio or tv to a static station (hit the wrong button on your remote to bump it off satellite tv) and play THAT...cats HATE that hissing sound.

He has a job, it's considered a proper cat job to annoy people and stare at them! Don't you know nothing?
