I can't figure out how to completely wipe all traces of CM.com from my computer.  I've deleted cookies & cleared history, but when you type the first few letters into the address bar CM.com still comes up.  It's not in my favorites, and other sites aren't doing this same thing, so I'm hoping there's a way to remedy this problem that's less drastic than just not visiting when I'm at work [&:]

Any and all suggestions would be extremely appreciated, thanks [X(]

I don't really know a quick way to get rid of it, but I do know a long way.  If you keep visiting new sites it will eventually be knocked off the list of places visited on the address bar (when you click and it brings up the list of visited sites).  Once it is off of that list it shouldn't pop up when you type in things that begin with the same letters.  Say there are eighteen slots for pages typed in, you'd need eighteen new sites visited to kick it off the list.

It's a long process, but it works.  You'll also want to take it out of the temporary internet files if you haven't already.  A good way to keep from getting it back on the address bar is to type "collarme" into a Google search.  The address bar only picks up what is actually typed into it, so a Google search would keep it from going to the address bar.

I actually did the whole filling up the address bar spaces, but it's hiding some place else even when it no longer appears in that drop down list for the addy bar...weird huh?  I couldn't be more perplexed and not being able to figure it out is driving me pretty mental [&:]

Go to the control panel find internet options and open that under the general tab there should be  history clear that and your good to go.

To clear out your Temp Internet Files...

Open a new browser window (Internet Explorer)
At the top there are drop down menu's
File Edit View etc...  go to the one that says Tools, on the menu that drops down, choose Internet options.  A window will pop up.  It will have a space for your home page info, then below that it will say Temporary Internet Files.  2 buttons are there, one says "delete cookies" and the other "delete files"  You want to click on "delete files" when you do that another window will pop up asking if you want to delete offline material also if you want to do that, check the box, if not leave it, then click ok.

Ick.  It must not take it off until it's out of the temporary internet files too then.  What WayWardSoul said is right.

Go to "Tools" on the taskbar in an open browser window, and click "Internet Options".  From here you can either click "Delete Files" (which will delete all the sites you've been to) or you can click "Settings", then click "View Files" and delete just the ones you want to be rid of.  It's also a good idea to delete your cookies while you're at it.  Just click the "Delete Cookies" button that is next to the "Delete Files" button. 

If that still didn't work for you, I'll ask my husband tomorrow.  He's a computer whiz.  I learned the small bit I do know from him.

That sounds more like AutoComplete being enabled in Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE)...

Open up an MSIE browser window.
Click TOOLS > Internet options > Advanced Tab
Scroll down the list and check to see if "Use inline AutoComplete" is checked. If checked, uncheck it and click OK .

That should take care of it. If you are on a network terminal at work, it is possible you may have to reset the AutoComplete setting each time it is rebooted, it may be set by default at bootup. If you are a logged in user, it may remember your MSIE settings.

How about going to your profile here on this side, and down at the bottom unclick the box next to "save my login and password as cookie" for starters?

After clearing all temp files and cookies down further there is another box that says Clear History,
before it is a sentence that asks "Days to keep pages in history" make sure you have a 0 in the little box.  after you complete  clearing then click okay at the bottom.

To wipe ALL traces off your PC you will need to replace your hard drive else it is possible to pick up the ghosting from it....

If I might add a slight precaution.  Depending on the company you work for its very possible that they have programs in place to track what their employees are doing on company time. Erasing things are all good and well but if you get caught is it worth losing your job over?

Replacing is a bit extreme, but absolutely safe. If you only write over a area once or twice it is possible to pick it up. But they sell programs that will write randomly over the hard disk several times (you can set the threshold), that makes it impossible to pick up any residual image. I used to use it when we bought surplus company computers. Don't remember the name but it's foolproof if you set it to like 10 random writes over an area, it will be garbled completely and permanently.

You can get something called Windows Washer, it wipes all sorts of things from your pc.

Just clearing the history or deleting cookies will not clear up the issue. Web Eraser or Window Washer programs will work---and you can set them to clean up files and completely delete them, etc (or you can take your computer to have the hard drive wiped clean).

I'm actually the boss, so I don't need it to be erased in a way that's so hardcore even the FBI couldn't find trace amounts of my questionable sites, thankfully...but it's pretty fascinating to know these programs even exist.  I'd make a horrible criminal, I'm not nearly clever enough lol

I did everything that was suggested (short of the programs that erase it 100% from the hard drive, I'd be too scared to do that anyhow, I may end up like a friend's coworker who "Erased that Spanish file...you know, Dos" [:D]) and it looks like it's gone [:D][:D]

I'll see how it is after my computer's been restarted and then if it passes my home tests, I can move on to trying it out at work.  I'm not at risk for being fired, but being both young & female has me at enough of a disadvantage, I don't want the employees seeing that I'm also a sexual deviant [X(] lol

If you are feeling a bit more paranoid, also feel free to go into Start Menu, Run, then type "regedit" to open up the Registry.  Then do a Find for the words collarme and collarchat and clean up whereever they appear. 
 
But keep in mind, all the things that have been suggested ONLY clean up your workstation.  Probably your network admin runs a data dump on the router access every couple of days.  If your network admin is like me, I just smile when I see where people are going - everyone in my company spends 90% of their life at the office, and if they want to look at "fun stuff" occasionally to keep them going, I don't care and certainly don't tell the bosses.  But I work with a bunch of happy freaks, and most of them already know I am the biggest freak there :-)

I had this exact problem, cleaned out everything I could think of and it still was the only url that would do that. I finally found something that worked. This is for internet explorer:
go to internet options, then the content tab, then "autocomplete" then uncheck "web addresses" then click "clear forms" then restart your puter. This after you have cleared temp files, cookies and history.
 
It was very frustrating for me because my daughter uses this puter and her college starts with a "c" so I know when she went to those sites collarchat wouls show up.
