No......sadly.......not a joke.

'Republican Politician Introduces Bill to Allow Sex Offenders at Schools And Playgrounds'

"Don’t scroll back up; you’re not reading an article from The Onion. Although, it’s going to be nice to see how they could possibly make this story anymore insane than it already is. Fortunately, Moore’s attempt at lifting these common sense restrictions has drawn ire from both Democrats and his House colleagues. The sheriff of Cherokee, a man who once said he’d never enforce any new gun regulations passed by Congress, even went as far as saying:

“In my 34 years of law enforcement I have never heard of such an insane law having been introduced.”

You would think that pressing this sex offender law forward would be a momentary lapse in judgment that a politician would quickly backpedal on, but that’s definitely not the case for Representative Moore."

1. If they are still a danger to society why the heck are they out of prison? Shouldn't they have been executed? That would cut the recidivism rate down.

2. What was their offense? Ya see, you can be put on the sex predators list because you urinated in a public alley one night when you were drunk. Or you could have been 15 and sent a nekkid picture of yourself to another 15 year old classmate.

I am not very fond of the sexual predators lists. There are far too many grey areas.

With permission a 17 year old can marry a 21 year old and have all the sex they want. Outside of marriage it is statutory rape (I know that the ages vary from state to state) and the 21 year old can be put on the sex predators list for life EVEN IF HE LATER MARRIES HER.

Yet a 12 year old or 14 year old can get an abortion without parental permission in some states.

Our sex laws are just messed up.

There are some problems with residency restrictions. In some places the no-access areas overlap and leave only very small sections of town, or none at all, where sex offenders on the registry can live. And making it difficult for them to locate housing, obviously, makes having stable housing less likely. Of course, that's a reason to be cautious and keep the banned zones small - not a reason to get rid of the zones entirely.

Of course, the whole sex offender registration needs to be redone, IMO. It doesn't make sense to put people on the list for nuisance offenses like drunken streaking or public urination. It also doesn't really make sense to ban an offender from schools and playgrounds if his/her crime had nothing to do with children - if some guy raped a 40-year-old woman, while that's awful and he's awful too, he's no more a risk to children than any other violent criminal, and the others can go where they please after they served their time.

First of all, the fact that the first visual was of Karl Rove which, anyone with a political IQ above tomatoes knows is the (published) antichrist....detracts.

Add to that that it's without debate an anti Republican discourse, removes all valid possibility of debate.

(It doesn't matter that the discourse was an essentially valid point...what matters is that the point of discussion was to dissuade).

Come back when you actually want to debate the facts.

Please tell me you are not going to hold your breath waiting for that one. Even the author of the article admitted that Moore's colleagues hated the idea and that there was no point in claiming it was a republican issue which was interesting considering he is the one who wrote the article trying to turn it into one in the first place.

Considering most if not the vast majority of GOP members are pro capital punishment, hard on crime, etc. the guy that introduced this probably will not be re elected.

Now, unless the offender killed someone, they should not be executed.

And I agree putting someone on the sex offender registry for streaking, public urination, even soliciting a prostitute, is going to far.

All that being said....

The United States has large amounts of public lands in the US and even owns a few uninhabited islands in the Pacific. Granted some of those islands are saturated with fall out from nuclear weapons tests, but still.

I suggest the government builds communities on some of the public lands, and places sex offenders there. We have the technology to track animals and thus people by satellite, lets use it on sex offenders. Put them in these controlled communities, insert the necessary hardware in their bodies to allow constant tracking, and if they leave the area, make it legal to shot the fuckers on sight.

The government can sell licenses to gun owners and archers that give them legal authority to execute these offenders if they leave their assigned areas.

Hell the fees from selling the licenses should balance the Federal budget in a few years.
