MasterCaneman -> This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 7:23:37 PM)

Wasn't sure whether to do another "I Admit" on this one. I went to a munch Wednesday (hey, I tell newbies to do it, practice what you preach, right?). It's okay, nothing major. I'm going through my wallet and I look at the receipt. Now I'll admit I just turned 48 and the other day I had my first 'mid-life crisis' event, for lack of a better word. I look at this thing, and see that the cashier gave me the senior citizen discount. I'm forty fucking eight. I know I'm going gray early (genetics), but come on! Maybe the kid thought she was doing me a favor, maybe not. (Oh God, I said kid 'that way').

So, whattaya think? Sports car or Harley? Although I don't have the money for either, I never say never. The nineteen year old hardbody is going to be de rigeur in this situation, of course. Or should I just cheap out and get hair dye? I'm at a loss here, people.

Blonderfluff -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 7:26:11 PM)

Oh god. Noooooo hair dye!!
Just say no to Just For Men

ETA. I just turned 49. I feel your pain. Plus one

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 7:27:44 PM)

When in doubt, always go for the Harley. Unless you can manage the Harley and the classic muscle car, then go for that, because you can't ride the Harley in subzero temps.

MasterCaneman -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 7:31:43 PM)

Yes you can. I've ridden before in winter. As long as you've got a snowmobile suit and a heated helmet, everything's gravy. Except for ice. Ice is bad, I will admit. (2 broken ankles, almost exactly a year apart). Although, thinking about it, if I got a T-bucket, it's like the best of both worlds. Four wheels, but an open engine with lots o' chrome. Won't get ya home, but you will look cool on the side of the road. [;)]

shiftyw -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 7:38:47 PM)

NO HAIR DYE.

I also know a really good joke about sports cars.
But I fear it may not translate well over the internet. Maybe I'll decide to post it later if I figure out how to word it well.

ETA:
I found someone else who had typed it out...

An elephant was walking through the jungle one day when suddenly he fell into a hole. "Help!" he yelled. A mouse heard his cry for help and came running. When the mouse finally made it to the elephant, the elephant said, "Please Mr. Mouse, if you save me I'll be your best friend forever." The mouse agreed, and told the elephant to wait just a second. The mouse came back in his corvette, tied a rope around the elephant, and pulled him out.

A few days later the mouse was walking through the jungle when all of a sudden, he fell into a hole. The mouse yelled for help, and soon that same elephant that he had saved just a few days earlier came to the rescue. The mouse said to the elephant, "Remember me? I'm that same mouse that saved you from a hole. Could you please help me?" The elephant agreed to help him. The elephant did not have a corvette so he just dropped his penis down in the hole. The mouse climbed up the elephant's penis and was safe.

The moral of a story, if you have a big dick, you don't need a corvette.

Do what I did CM............shave your head. It knocks a few years off your age and for some reason those 'kids' seem to think you are yong enough for you to put them over your knee if they try and be smart *smile*.
The muscle car definitely..............If I hit something at speed and it is bigger or harder than I am, I would prefer the odds to be just a little more evenly balanced.

DaddySatyr -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 8:19:32 PM)

I'll be 50 on my next birthday and I have only ever had one youngster (roughly 16 years old) ever ask me if I wanted a senior discount (I was 34).

I can relate to the grey hair thing I have it all through my beard. I've been growing my hair this Winter so I'm no longer bald but, I can tell you that keeping the beard very short will help you "hide" the grey and shorter (very close to the skin) beards seem to carry the impression of youth, anyway.

I'm just glad to be getting older. Some aren't so lucky.

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 8:26:07 PM)

What the frik? I would have corrected the "kid" for the mistake.

Get the sports car. You can still look cool even in the pouring rain and your gal won't have messed up hair. I usually expect OLD men to be riding motorcycles. (seriously, it's a "thing" for THAT generation) ...Old men with shaved heads and Van Halen/Duck Dynasty beards...

Spiritedsub2 -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 8:28:20 PM)

Negative on the hair dye. It's always obvious and pitiable. I do think grey hair looks better shorter. And I say embrace that discount! It's no reflection on you, it's just more money in your pocket. Use that extra cash, buy some canes, and find a way to use them on a sweet ass. Bet THAT will make you feel young again [:D]

jlf1961 -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 8:30:15 PM)

For a small fee, I will sell you a map to the fountain of youth... or a starbucks in Miami, not sure which.

FelineRanger -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 8:37:25 PM)

I'm 44 and I have a few bright silver strands that shine like somebody polished the little fuckers. And the less said about the "solar panel" the better. I want to regenerate like Doctor Who.

I didn't notice it until a couple of hours ago when I looked at the receipt. She didn't even ask me.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 9:07:03 PM)

Gee, MC, you gonna look a gift horse in the mouth? ENJOY your Denny's Discount! (Though actually, it's 55, not 48 but at this late date...who's counting?) [8D]

anniezz338 -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 9:09:38 PM)

I'm going to start asking for senior discounts and ordering on the seniors menu. I'm 52 in 2 months and I feel I've earned them.

When I hit 51, I cut my hair into a pixie and never die it anymore. I have a ton of gray hair mixed with some dark. I'm loving it.

MasterCaneman -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 9:19:51 PM)

It was bad enough the group informally arranged itself by age, TNG at one end of the table, old farts on the other. I guess I should enjoy it when it happens, but damn, bad timing. Well! Off to Wally World to buy some khaki shorts to go with my black socks, and one of those gawdawful fishing hats. Wonder if Matlock is on?

Bastard! ([:D]) I wear black (sweat) socks when I wear black sneakers. I don't wear shorts, though.

DaddySatyr -> RE: This Isn't Helping... (2/27/2014 9:53:27 PM)

Okay. You take a "swipe" at my black socks; I suggest a "gangsta" name for you (and it should go under your name, here, too as a "Title"): "Notorious O.L.D."

LOL!

With my right turn signal on for the last twenty-five miles. Check.

If only it wasn't for those meddling kids.
