Obama publically stands firm with the Ukraine and warns he will not attend the upcoming summit in Sochi if Putin does not stop the "incursion" (not invasion, mind you). Putin will no doubt pull back under the pressure of this also knowing Obama has not yet changed the U.S. Marines headgear to the unisex style proposed by his White House several months ago.

He also knows Obama's party has publically decided we will never fight a ground war again but I am sure, as you are, that he will ignore that fact and return his forces back to Russan soil in the face of Obama being "concerned".

Mission Accomplished. America is powerless.

Alright, GOP screamed when it looked like he would send troops to Libya.

Then they screamed louder when the Benghazi compound was attacked and he did nothing.

Cant say much, they guy cant win for losing.

However, with the budget cuts in Defense proposed, he might want to have American Schools teach the Russian National Anthem.

Nasty situation. Putin is a thug, and this doesn't surprise me.

I'm not sure what Obama should do here, because I really don't have the stomach for another war. Obama stated that hes not against wars, but against stupid wars, and I'm not sure that attacking Russia might not be the stupidest thing we could do.

I will write your position down as Obama fucked the whole thing up in the first place --- otherwise American would be ready to engage full scale war with Russia over the Ukraine.

After our successes in IRAQ and Afghanistan, where we've established peace, spread democracy, and created viable, high functioning governments -- there's no reason to think we couldn't perform the same services in the Ukraine, notwithstanding how we'd be fighting another Nuclear power on their home field.

Besides, anybody can own the Russian gunships flying over the Ukraine so naturally they are wrong blaming it on Putin.

I personally think they are independent Cossacks (is their any other type of Cossack?) out running around with those Walmart purchased "military style" hunting rifles and flying around in cheap surplus Russian Army copters. Thank God we won't be able to buy those soon becase somebody might think we are free men planning on staying that way.

...CNN shows independent Cossack Russian surplus tanks in the Ukraine. It's all good. They have been invited by the exiled president who, btw, is a Cossack himself and as such had protesters shot.

Damn CNN, they used that "invasion" word again. It is clearly peacekeeping.

Please excuse my interrupting a good old anti-Obama rant, but what exactly do you propose the USA does (apart from reverting to the more traditional 'masculine' hats that were so fashionable in the 1950s) ?

I would appreciate clear, realistic answers to these questions:

* Should the USA respond militarily?
* If so, what form should this military response take?
* Should this response be unilateral in the likely event of the Europeans declining to join a multi-nation response force?

Oops, my mistake. I am informed that the wonderful amazing and hopeful American Socialist Obama Administration did indeed attempt that recently and somehow some Cossack told Foxnews about it and the plan had to be reassessed until the coast is clear.

I think we should draw a red line in the dirt. Red Lines work. It is at the core of our Leader's foreign policy. That and also hope and change.
