I'm intrigued by antebellum southern plantation race play, but, one thing that confuses me in the porn videos is the common use of oil on the black ladies.

Is that a blowback to an historical setting?

I never see oil on any other race and I, myself, haven't had a black girlfriend nor any black friends that I know well enough to ask.

But what's this partiality toward oiling the entire body on just one race?

I'm wondering if it's just that dark skin might not photograph well in the porn videos so they oil it to pick up the light so the video quality is better?

Oil on the skin of black actors and actresses actually has a basis in the history of photography.

With older film photography and cinematography from the 1930s.
Standard shutter settings give proper color saturation for Caucasian coloring. A black skin coloration causes the person to look like a silhouette with eyes and teeth. It was found that oiling the skin brought out the highlights of features and made for acceptable photography. I have a feeling it is just something you do for black actresses.

When younger I did a lot of black and white film photography and developed it myself. If you took a group shot with Black and Caucasians together; either the white faces were washed out or the black faces were featureless. You had to dodge out the Black faces to prevent overexposure and still get good features on the Caucasian coloring. I learned later that proper makeup and selective lighting would even out the saturation between dark and light complexions. But, enough on photography here.

Face it, makeup requirements are different for different genetic phenotypes. And makeup requirements for film and stage are different than for the office or nightclub.

Anyway, an oiled up Nubian rather pushes the "sexy" button.
