deathtothepixies -> gun threads (3/3/2014 4:16:50 PM)

seems to me that all threads that mention guns now have to go into one catch all "unmoderated gun thread"

the Alzheimer's thread has been stopped but the Chinese knife thread, which has clearly turned into a gun thread continues...

too many uses of thread but wtf.

I know you mods have shit to do but you can't lump every thread/post that involves guns into one, it just doesn't work. There are too many different facets to each thread to just pretend they are the same.

Thank you for moderating collarme x

Lucylastic -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 4:28:42 PM)

thanks DTP I just moved a gun post, my apololooogies to mods

VideoAdminChi -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 4:41:27 PM)

The Alzheimers thread is closed for clean up, not to consolidate gun threads.

No violations = no closed threads.

You may start a new gun thread as long as it does not duplicate the subject matter of an active topic or a thread closed for clean up.

Lucylastic -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 4:47:22 PM)

thanks for clearing that up for me [:)]

1. BamaD started that threat in a subtle attempt to pre-emptively assault any threads that might ask the next most logical question: If firearms were used, would the devastation had been the say or far greater? Except most non-'gun nut' types can see straight through the bullshit for what it is: pushing his political agenda secretly.

2. Knives are to the Chinese what Firearms are to Americans. Doesn't take a genius to follow the logic to the correct discussion, does it?

3. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease. I wish more funding would be placed to not just find a cure but help those families in America cope with medical bills related to it. Is it surprising that the same folks that fantactically defend firearms on the Chinesse Knife thread are ALSO the same ones that would be against the US Government spending more money to help the two directions I mentioned?

4. Some threads are more...sensational...then others. I brought up the thread about how researchers might be 5-10 years from developing a rejection free lung transplants for those that need them. It got like four posts, since most people are generally in favor of such stuff. But firearm threads tend to draw more posts because not everyone is in the same boat.

5. The moderators are usually not thanked for their tasks of 'keeping the peace'. Which is to say many firearm threads generally head towards boiling points, to which the moderators have to step in. Its not likely to happen on a thread for Alzheimer's Disease. Nor on threads for cancer, or depression, or many other horrible mental or emotional illness related topics.

deathtothepixies -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 4:48:12 PM)

quick work mods, nice, but who decides what duplicating subject matter is?

Shit, you of course... not having a go but all threads involving guns are going to have an element of duplication

VideoAdminChi -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 4:55:48 PM)

At this time, we are not consolidating gun threads. If you wish to discuss this identical incident Senseless shooting: Gunman kills man with Alzheimers before that thread is reopened, you may do it on the unmoderated thread

Of course.

Guns bad. NRA bad. Rightist paranoid gun nuts. 2A means collective. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Rightist paranoid

yup

kdsub -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 5:04:09 PM)

I'm still trying to figure out what needs to be cleaned in the last shooting thread.
There was no name calling at all. Just discussion

Butch

All I can think of was that one side seemed to outnumber the other which probably put a nose or two out of joint

VideoAdminChi -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 5:08:52 PM)

I don't reopen threads until I have finished sending letters and updating documentation.

VideoAdminChi -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 5:16:00 PM)

Senseless shooting: Gunman kills man with Alzheimers has been reopened.

kdsub -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 5:33:48 PM)

But people were not attacking each other... Just the subject

Hillwilliam -> RE: gun threads (3/3/2014 5:39:01 PM)

Apparently, the mods felt otherwise.

I have told you repeatedly that you were wrong and now you run to another thread
to spread this inaccurate information.

There was a poster who repeatedly called all gun owners cowards.

Since admin seems to be completely ok with broad-brush insults and attacks on anyone who doesn't share the dumbass opinions of the gundiots (gun idiots), I think it is high time the shit becomes a two-way street.

I bet they go whining to the mods a lot over it.

Call the waaahm-bulance, and let's chip in to get Chi a Starbucks gift card.

I responded in kind to the coward comments and the next thing I knew the thread was locked up.
