After reading the story, I can kinda sympathize with him He was arrested and then found "Not Guilty" and record expunged. I have been arrested and found "Not Guilty" as well. Should I face repercussions for being innocent and a victim of a bored lying-assed cop? Should he?

While that is true, you have to understand the politics behind it. It doesn't really matter if he is innocent or not, he is on the right side of the fence which puts him on the wrong side of the fence to a lot of people. And from what I have seen here that means it is ok to lie about him as long as the lies make him look bad. And then when called on their lies they will either make up more or bring up something totally off topic to take the focus off the fact that they lied in the first place. See how that works [8D]

I think if someone is publishing his mugshot and saying/implying that he was found guilty of whatever it was, then he does have grounds to sue for libel. I don't know whether he should, if that would help or hurt him politically, but if he feels it's important, that's his choice. But if they're just saying "he was arrested".... well, he was, so that's not libel. It's only libel if it's not true.

I just found the arrest record and on the last page it says: JUDICIAL SEGMENT =================== DATE: 10/26/77 CNT-1 MCL AC-3500 VIOLATION OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE ARTICLE DISP: FOUND GUILTY SENT/REMARKS: F/C/R-$5 PROB-1Y This appears to indicate he was found guilty and given one year probation. Does anyone have access to any documents indicating that there was a "not-guilty" judicial decision or trial verdict?

FR In my opinion, Stockman should take the ball and run with it. Make it such a joke that people hear the "not guilty" verdict (if there was one) more than they see the mugshot.
