First it was hello kitty bubble guns, then a pop tart in the shape of a gun, now this:

It is this kind of thing that really makes it hard to take gun law reform proponents seriously. I honestly am waiting for some 1st grader to get expelled for writing the word "gun" and a sheet of paper and holding it at arm's length.

A friend of mine, who has school-aged kids, and I were talking about this recently. The whole zero-tolerance crap. He had a son threatened with suspension for basically the same thing, making "finger guns". When he spoke to someone at the school, the explanation he was given was that this is a common gang sign meaning watch your back or I'm going to shot you. Since you can't just suspend gangsters for making this sign, that might be construed as being racially motivated, you have to suspend anyone doing so. That doesn't really explain the pop-tart "guns" or the 2" lego toys, but it does put the finger gun concept into some sort of perspective. I still think it's BS, but it makes more sense then the others.

Okay, let me get this straight, a school principle feels that making a gun out of your fingers is harmful?

Gang sign? There was a Texas female student who's picture was not allowed in the yearbook because her huge grin could be seen as a "gang sign."

I have a suggestion, some one give these people a reality check.

It's all part and parcel of the New America. [:D] Heaven forbid anyone be singled out or offended. It should give us all a warm fuzzy.

I've seen a kid suspended for a week because the balloons he brought to school for recess play were colored to look like hand grenades.

I've seen police called because a girl brought a deadly weapon to school, a rat tail comb.

Is it any wonder why there is so much more "home schooling" than years ago. Parents want to protect their children from school administrations.
