Where do you live and where do you plan to travel to? Vastly different on different continents, so at least a rough idea idea would be helpful...

Oh, that narrows it down considerably. What part of the US? There are places that aren't as kink-friendly as others.

San Francisco is a good choice, can be a bit cool and foggy ( don't expect "beach weather"! ) but there is always something happening in that town.

New York City is also a scene-friendly place, or so I've been told as well. Or Chicago. There's three right there, OP

NYC used to be my ole stomping ground as I'm originally from the area, but I haven't been there in about 7 years. Most of the places I used to frequent were in the East Village near the river. Lots of clubs, but they can get very crowded weekends, so you might want to keep your sub on a short leash, literally speaking. And it's true, the city never sleeps except for Sunday mornings when the streets are deserted. Have fun.

Fort Lauderdale if you want the warm weather and Orlando I hear is extremely kink friendly. Tampa has the woodshed. Everyone talks about it. If you want to get to the sunshine state that is :)

Definitely Fort Lauderdale...or Miami..look up Fetish Factory..the owner, Glenn, hosts parties every 2nd Saturday of the month & occasionally hosts Xtreme Fet parties which are like BDSM meets Plato's Retreat & essentially anything goes..Those are by invite only, so you'd have to do some really smooth fast talking if you've just arrived in town & want to go to one of them.

While South Florida is indeed kink friendly, I would not recommend it in July. Too hot plus hurricane season.

It is hard to say which city has the best because a city may deem their space the best in the USA. My personal best have been Dragonsgate (outside LA) and The Mark (Nashville). They have great spaces even though they weren't HUGE spaces. That staff was great as well at each location. My sub and I travel allot and when we plan, we also look at kink/BDSM calendars to see what events are going on. There are regional calendars as well that highlight what is happening is a specific region of a state (for example, Floriday has one: https://sites.google.com/site/thefloridakinkycalendar/home). A young lady in Atlanta started a registry, if you will, of munches, groups, and dungeons across the USA and other countries: www.findamunch.com. I mention munches because some generally have play parties (or an event) at the local dungeon...so this is a link to knowing where the play spaces are. Hope this helps...

DC has a great community, and a very nice club (which I've been to several times, but for the life of me I can't remember the name). There's lots of non-kinky stuff to do there, too. July is a bit hot and sticky, but depending on what you're used to, it might not bother you.

Florida thankfully hasn't had much hurricane activity in the past 7 years, alternatively it's been the North East. On Fetlife there is a fellow who offered me VIP tickets to Fetish Factory. I told him to fuck off (I didn't feel like being arm candy or put on display) but he didn't make getting into one of them too unattainable. All about networking I guess and Fetlife is all about these kinds of events. Not really my scene personally but I definitely hear those into events rave about FF parties, but for something more low key then the Woodshed. I think they even were giving shibari classes at one point and quite a few Doms I respect A LOT frequent there. (Just because I've seen their ropework). Also I believe event coordinators have accounts on FL and are easy to find. Someone did add me who had a "FetishFactory" account.

If it were Me, I'd try to schedule the trip around a specific, multiple day kink event. That would give you a number of cities to choose from. Did you have a particular part of the country you were shooting for?
