Lucylastic -> Two women rushed to hospital after shooting at York University (3/7/2014 7:03:20 AM)

Two women were sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a shooting Thursday evening at York University, according to Toronto EMS.
Paramedics said they responded to the call around 10:45 p.m. They initially said the two women suffered “peripheral gunshot wounds.” Police clarified that only one of the women was shot in the lower half of the body.
It is believed that the other woman had “secondary injuries” to her leg.
An area of the student centre was cordoned off with police tape Thursday after the sound of gunshots reportedly sent students scrambling for safety.
Some people took to social media Thursday night to express their shock.
One person said he thought it sounded like a firecracker, but when he saw others running he ran as well. Another person said she saw “bullet holes in the chairs.”

At least one of the victims was seen carried out on a stretcher.
A sign in the student centre warned informed students that “due to an emergency at the Underground restaurant, all community members are directed to take shelter in place and stay inside until further notice.”
Around 1 a.m., a safety bulletin from the university confirmed that “a firearm was discharged at York University’s student centre” and that Toronto police advised that the campus could resume normal operations.
Four TTC buses were diverted due to the police investigation. They resumed a couple of hours later on Friday morning after the delay at York University Commons was cleared.
As of 3 a.m., details surrounding the motive behind the shooting were sparse and forensics continued to search the scene for evidence.
One witness said she saw a girl fire a gun, but police said they do not have a suspect description and they have not released the names of the victims.
The investigation is ongoing, they said.

The police are still investigating if it was an gun accident.
My daughter was there, she works and studies there, Im still talking her down.
It wouldnt be so bad but its the second time she has been at the scene of a shooting.

Ouch. But I'm glad she's okay otherwise. I know you'll get her past it, Lucy.

Well that's a twist on the usual gun story...

When you can't even trust women not to shoot you, you're in deep shit. [:D]

You and she, and the victims, are in my thoughts. I know it's not easy but find something to get her mind occupied. It is the best thing after any sort of traumatic event (they even recommend playing video games).

I'm glad your daughter is okay. I don't associate Canada with this kind of violence, so I was surprised to read this. I hope they locate who did this soon. Be well.

That's spooky.

Maybe you should get her a gun.

DominantWoman65 -> RE: Two women rushed to hospital after shooting at York University (3/7/2014 7:15:24 PM)

My thoughts are with you and your daughter. May you help her find the strength that she needs to overcome the shock and her fears. If she is anything like you then she has some spunk and tenacity about her, I think she will do just fine.

Edited for spelling, that's what I get for not wearing my glasses.

Thankyou Ken, FTP, DW65:) I appreciate your thoughts very much.
They are now looking at it as an accidental gun discharge, but they cant find the "POI"

Lucy, I am sorry to hear about your daughter being in the area, and I am glad she is okay.

As for having a mom, I did as well, although my mom was a bit, shall we say, eccentric?

Suffice it to say, I now have a new topic for another thread.

As for all the charges you listed, am I right the drug charges with purpose is the same as "with intent to distribute." in the US?
