Hi All,

Just wanted to post about what people's favorite conversation starters are.

It's always nice to have more to think about and everyone needs a good ice-breaker from time to time~

One if mine is, What's your favorite Monopoly piece and why? (I choose the thimble because I believe it has magical victory granting powers)

I prefer when they take time to read my full profile and then comment on something I wrote. Alternately, if they see one of my journal entries and comment on that. Either way, it demonstrates they invested a modicum of time to learn about me, as a person, rather than tossing out the same random question they've probably sent to every woman in a 250-mile radius.

On the rare occasions I start a conversation (I prefer to let them approach me), it's because they posted something interesting here in the discussion forums or because they wrote something interesting in one of their journal entries.

Ha, today I told a guy with extremely long hair that his hair would be fun to use in a bondage scene. I imagined something with his wrists overhead and overlapping and the hair used as rope.
Thankfully he received the comment relatively well and asked for long hairstyle suggestions and sent him a few.
Not a sub I was interested in, he was taken, but it was a nice way to say hello. :)

What's wrong with the dick pictures and asking if we're interested in seeing them perform kinky things on cam for "our pleasure"

OK ladies, that was a joke, put down that axe, really...

Because I loved the thimble until I loved the horse better, I will answer and say that great conversation starters, start with my journal or profile most often or a joke about something said in someone's journal, unless it is serious and we comment on that. However, after that, we need to really get into some real conversation or I just don't have time. I really don't like conversations started by automatic and most often don't play along.

I've found that most that email other than people I have gotten to know... have nothing but a conversation starter and then they fall flat. Give me something to work with if you are contacting me, because I sure as hell didn't drum up a reason to email you... you best have something to pull out of the back pocket that will interest me and that information is found in my journal for the most part and the mind that creates something from that.

Just to be clear, I'm not really looking for advice :) just making small talk.

But you know... if something really clever gets said, I'll be sure to steal it and take all the credit for myself.

If someone actually reads my profile and/or journal entries and he says something specific about them, then I know he took the time to read them & really tried to find out more about me, that's a great conversation starter with me. Where the rubber meets the road is if he can keep up his end of an ongoing correspondence. If he can, great, if not then it's not so good. I also read someone's profile and maybe some of their journal entries before I will write to him/her for the first time, so I have a better idea of who I'm writing to/corresponding with.

Nope, you're wrong. The rearing horse is actually a unicorn, which has the "magical victory granting powers" you seek. Or the shoe if it were winged, as in Nike, Winged Roman Goddess of Victory....

"Nike" is the Greek word for "victory".

That's right, make me have to look it up. Shoulda said Graeco-Roman, from classical mythology I studied in grammar school.

You see, in the etymology of the female name "Veronica," which means "True Victory," the root word "verus"=true in Latin. So I had Latin on the brain....

Thanks, btw.

I don't quite understand. Has somebody said anything about polyamory being wrong for you? What you do is your business, and more power to you for it. What's right or wrong for me is mine.

We're cool.

If I ever made you feel judged in any manner, it most assuredly wasn't personal.

I speak my own personal truths, as I expect for others to do freely, and when I quote somebody, it's usually to agree with their PoV (although not always, but then I would hope to make that clear).
