My library systems have books in Kindle or epub format. A coworker recommended the Dresden books last week and I'm off to curl up with book 1.

Sounds to me like you might like Neil Gaiman's work if you don't already know it. (Start with American Gods).

Do you like comedy with your fantasy? If so, look at Tom Holt. (Start with Who's Afraid Of Beowulf).

If you fancy dipping into the wonderful world of comics, try some Alan Moore. (Start with either Watchmen or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Volume 1).

If you like Lovecraft, sword and sorcery and urban fantasy, I'd definitely suggest you look for some Fritz Leiber and Karl Edward Wagner.

I'd go for TH White, The Once and Future King for swords and sorcery.

Oh and by the way, there's software available that will turn EPub into Kindle format, and vice versa. Sometimes a Kindle version of a book is available or cheaper than an EPub version, or vice versa.

Jerry Pournelle. He's prolific, and a helluva writer.

I got classics on my Kindle and budding authors (if they are free, I get them). Right now I am on the 2nd book of the Devil's Roses, tended for young adults. I have physical copies of Anne McCaffrey, Margaret George, Tolkien, Philipa Gregory, Bertrice Small and Auel. I need to organize my shelves...OH LOOKIE!!!! Get your ass over here!

You know that if you are using any form of E reader, you will be SOL when an EMP generated from a solar magnetic storm turns all of them into serving trays, right?

Have a look at http://www.baenbooks.com They have a free library of out of print titles.

It still gripes me that when they signed a contract selling their eBooks at Amazon they were required to increase their price. At least they increased the percentage to authors along with the price increase.

Pournelle is good, but when combined with Niven it's even better. That's hard science fiction though.

Also I can't believe no-one mentioned Terry Pratchett (Sir Terry Pratchett now.) His Diskworld series is utterly brilliant. There are 40 novels.

The Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin is very well done and it'll take you a while to get through them. You might know that series better as "Game of Thrones."

Larry Correia with his Monster Hunter International series. Mystical Monsters and gun porn.

Charlene Harris with the Sookie Stackhouse novels (True Blood on HBO.)

Laura Resnick can be quite funny with her Esther Diamond series: humorous fantasy set in NYC.

That ought to keep you busy for a while.

Here's Baen's free library: http://www.baenebooks.com/c-1-free-library.aspx

I tried to filter by author and select Bujold but that didn't work. When I got her "Cryoburn" from the library, it came with a disk containing all her books. Cryoburn is well into the Vorkosigan Saga and I don't recommend you start with it, but rather read them in internal chronological order, starting with "Shards of Honor."

Indeed, however, I keep a good supply of the real stuff handy at all times. Comes in handy to be raised by two PHD's in English. I have enough real books to keep me going till the Apocalypse or Ragnarok. Which ever comes first!

Do you have a link for that series? I tried a search for "Daddy's Little Girl" coupled with "book" but only got a plethora of little kid's books.

It peaked my curiosity as it sounded a lot like the stories about Susan Sto Helit (aka Susan Death) who is Death's Grandaughter. Susan Death has had to take over for Granddad a few times in Terry Pratchett's Discworld.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Sto_Helit

Loved the look they used for her in the movie version of "Hogfather" too.
