Note that it was "in excess of" In a lawsuit, you sue for the amount of actual damages per your estimate plus punitive damages. The judge and jury set an actual amount. Could end up being millions if Barr is obnoxious in court.

I am quite sure that the final amount (if there is an award) will be in the six figures. Two reasons: 1) Very few decent houses can be had for under 100k these days 2) These were older people who were probably very happy in that house; had lived there for a good portion of time ... maybe raised their children there. In my mind that speaks to emotional damage which equals punitive damages. Kirata, maybe you can help us out with this: In some states, there are "levels" of lawsuits (damages) as far as filing the paperwork; not necessarily statutory requirements. Could this be the case in Florida?
