ORIGINAL: MalcolmNathaniel You need to understand something about registering domains: No matter who you go through it is registered worldwide. It's the only way the net can operate and is why ICANN was formed. However, if you register My-Corsetts.com it doesn't give you the rights to My-Corsetts.Cn or My-Corsetts.CO.UK. All of those need to be registered separately. Also, if you are actively using a domain trademarks won't cover domain-squatting. Once you realize this no-one can scam you about that again. they just sent me the price list to register the domain in CN and china, its only triple what I would pay if I went via ICANN !!!!! lol I have several domains registered:) Im aware of the extras for .org.biz.ca.uk.net etc and various countries designation. and I get that trademark doesnt cover domain squatting.:) I appreciate your post tho. I was hoping you would pop in:) the flies only get to leave marks, (I call em experience marks) they dont get a second chance.:) Trademarking, branding and patents can be tricky, especially when it comes to overseas countries. ESPECIALLY China. You can sell to whomever you want globally, it is why every online vendor has the option of marketing either locally or globally when they do decide to do ecommerce. It's always a great idea to buy the domains in all qualifying names, for reasons mostly circumventing SEO and backlinking but I wouldn't worry about someone else posing as your company necessarily. If they do, you can report them to http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx Again, what can be done is limited depending on where you reside, but if I were you, I'd work on getting trademarked for same measure, and if all else fails, at least come up with a company logo so you have some sort of "branding" attached to your business itself. Logos are one of the best ways to set yourself apart from competitors without spending a dime and to where you can be recognizable by your customer base. sorry I couldn't help more. Best of luck with it! If it makes you feel any better, no one has had more patent lawsuits than Samsung and Apple, primarily because of the whole "international" trademarking issue.
