I sooooooo need to go to his funeral with a sign saying "god hates haters"

I realize that publicity is what his "church" craves more than anything, but I don't care. I believe it would be morally wrong to allow him to be buried in peace, or for any services in his memory allowed to be conducted with dignity and respect.

I think you're confusing morality with vengeance.

I have no love for the man nor his followers. But tempting though the options be, I'm with dc.

I am not saying anyone is wrong or right. That is a personal decision for you on this subject. I am a service member. Right now, right here. He has caused pain to My many brothers and sisters families. I am not god. I am not perfect. It made Me sick watching him and his followers doing this to the people who died defending his right to do so. So guess what? I now want to exercise My same right. I hate this man to My core. Does it make Me the same as him? Maybe, but I haven't yet done anything but verbalize it. This man made it a daily exercise for himself.

I get it. And you'll not hear from me that it makes you the same--it doesn't.

Sharing my view. Definitely not judging yours. I totally understand.

And don't misunderstand me -- I'm no saint. There's plenty of hatred in my heart for this man and his kind. I've just learned what that can do to me if I let it.

If you protest, I won't be cheering. But I won't be condemning either. And part of my heart will be singing.

According to the report, he was excommunicated from his "church" in 2013.

That caught my attention too. I wonder what the story is.

Keep in mind, these people are lawyers. It's probably to make sure he gets the hospice covered by MediCare, and to protect the assets of the church that might have his name attached.

It's a shame that Dr. Kevorkian is unavailable to hasten Freddy's passing.

Lucylastic -> RE: Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is 'On The Edge Of Death' (3/16/2014 11:20:09 AM)

He is probably dead an buried already ...so they WONT get the protestors.

Good point.

I am sure he will pass the torch to someone else when he does go.

He has a whole family of crazy haters following in his footsteps. The hate doesn't die with him sadly.

I don't think the kingdom of God is in this man's future.

njlauren -> RE: Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is 'On The Edge Of Death' (3/16/2014 12:11:41 PM)

I think people should protest the funeral, but basically do it with what they called silent witness, have a lot of people surrounding the funeral, not saying anything, not holding up placards, but simply standing in mute protest to the man and what he believed in. Not saying the idea of dropping a load of manure and such on his grave isn't a tempting thought, but I kind of think that would be better served growing plants and flowers, which unlike old Fred, is a testament to God's grace and beauty, that pretty flowers and food to feed people can come from muck:)

I don't really believe in an afterlife but if their is an afterlife, if there is justice in the afterlife, the Fred Phelps will go to Heaven . . .

. . . and upon arrival will be immediately handed a bucket an mop by God and assigned to spend eternity as a janitor . . .

. . . in Heaven's gay bathhouse.

I'd be willing to bet that ole Fred was excommunicated for the good of the family upon diagnosis of his terminal illness.

I think this was the family's way of trying to dodge the circus that his funeral is going to become, if there is a funeral.

Lucylastic -> RE: Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is 'On The Edge Of Death' (3/16/2014 3:28:07 PM)

One day in the future, Fred Phelps has a heart attack and dies. He immediately goes to hell, where the devil is waiting for him. "I don't know what to do here," says the devil. "You are on my list, but I have no room for you. You definitely have to stay here, so I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I've got a couple folks here who weren't quite as bad as you. I'll let one of them go, but you have to take their place. I'll even let you decide who leaves."

Phelps thought that sounded pretty good, so the devil opened the first room. In it was Ted Kennedy and a large pool of water. He kept diving in and surfacing empty handed. Over and over and over. Such was his fate in hell. "No," Fred said. "I don't think so. I'm not a good swimmer and I don't think I could do that all day long."

So the devil led him to the next room. In it was Newt Gingrich with a sledgehammer and a room full of rocks. All he did was swing that hammer, time after time after time. "No, I've got this problem with my shoulder. I would be in constant agony if all I could do was break rocks all day," commented Fred.

The devil opened a third door. In it, Phelps saw Jesse Jackson lying on the floor with his arms staked over his head, and his legs staked in a spread eagle pose. Bent over him was Monica Lewinsky, doing what she does best. Phelps took this in in disbelief and finally said, "Yea, I can handle this."

The devil smiled and said "OK, Monica, you're free to go!"

Yes a political joke badly changed with phelps entered...its the best I can do on short notice and a sad lack of knowledge on dead funnymentalists in the US ...sue me

Fred Phelps on the edge of death. Condition best described as "satisfactory".

LOL

FR

Slightly off the subject, but wasn't it Fred Phelps who ran the Mission Impossible team?

Lucylastic -> RE: Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is 'On The Edge Of Death' (3/16/2014 3:44:37 PM)

That was Jim

PeonForHer -> RE: Fred Phelps, Westboro Baptist Church Founder, Is 'On The Edge Of Death' (3/16/2014 3:54:31 PM)

Got it. Entirely different people, then. One was a character living a far out life in a make-believe world, while the other was a man in a tv series.
