I'm somewhat new and I'm trying to understand some aspects of BDSM. For example, extreme Sadism, just don't understand it.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer for you on the sadism stuff. I am not into most BDSM activities and certainly not anything that involves any kind of impact.

I will admit to possessing a bit of a mental sadism streak but, I come by it honestly. I enjoy watching someone who (I feel) deserves it to be confused to the point of distraction or frustrated. But, even at that, I don't take joy in actual physical pain; just their anguish.

I don't get it either. Some people like to live on the extreme. I like to give a woman as much pain as she wants, and then just a bit more.

The example from your profile says that it's from a pro Domme. While she might enjoy it herself, she's really doing it to fulfill her clients' wishes.

Hello and welcome, Beth. There is no easy answer for that. Why is someone an extreme masochist? People have been contemplating both for a long time now. Come on in, sample the forums, and maybe answer some questions inside.

Welcome to the fun side of CM Beth.

It can be difficult to come to terms with sadism or extreme sadism, the first thing you have to do *for yourself* is decide where you want to draw the line.

What is extreme sadism for me might be light sadism for you, or vice-versa. The important thing to remember when looking at couples who engage in what is termed 'extreme' sadism is that it's consensual.

Consentuality means a *lot* in the BDSM world (or it should).

That does beg the question, is all sadism 'okay' if it's consensual?

I say no, that there's a line that should never be crossed, consensual or not. As someone new to the lifestyle, that line may keep moving out there for a while. Eventually, you will determine where your firm line is.

I hope this helps in your thinking about sadism.

Alas, I'm another regular who doesn't quite understand extreme sadism. I would say, though, that I've met a couple of people who you might describe as extreme sadists, and they don't come across as psychopaths at all (well not all of them!).

For my part, I enjoy administering CP, and I'd say that personally it's not the pain I'm causing that gives me the rush, it's the reaction that it provokes in the recipient (if that makes any sense).

Hi Beth,

Welcome and well, what is extreme sadism? A bunch of things that I considered pretty extreme when I got my feet wet a long time ago are now simply "fun things to do"...

I would find it more extreme to beat somebody who has a low pain tolerance way beyond endurance, than doing all sorts of edge play with somebody who is a masochist and craves the sensation of pain. I think it's all relative...

Re: extreme sadism: think of it this way. When my back itches, I like it scratched until it's nearly bleeding. Most people wouldn't, but that's what feels satisfying to me. Everyone has their own criteria for scratching their itches.

I understand extreme pleasure, mostly sexual in nature but some sadism with some, can get to be a bit much. Funny how for me it was all about foreplay and then if lucky...a little more. I don't even like breaking the skin or any blood play at all.
