ORIGINAL: DarkSteven It's not uncommon to show a DL. The "safe call" method involves the following steps. 1. Prior to meeting, the woman gets the man's full name, address, and phone number. 2. At the start of the meeting, she verifies the name and address from his DL. 3. She makes a safe call to a friend, to let the friend know that it all panned out. 4. Sometimes she calls again after an hour or so to let the friend know that everything is still okay. If the safe call is not received, the friend calls the cops with the man's address. Yeah, it's a bit paranoid, but I've gone along with it before once or twice. My ex used to use this system and I used to think she was an idiot for thinking it made her safe in any way, shape or form. The only thing this proves is that the person you are meeting is capable of reading info off a dl. It doesn't prove that the dl in question wasn't printed in someone's basement. And if the dl is correct your friend can give the cops the address where the body might be. It does nothing to make sure you are safe. Short of having a bodyguard along on the first date it is the best choice.
