Manimal, You've had plenty of good responses .. but I didn't see any that specifically addressed the type of panic snaps to use. I agree that ropes that tighten, or chains that have hard, focal pressure can both cut off circulation, cause hematomata, bone "bruises" etc ... so spreading the weight (as others have suggested) with harnesses, or broad leather straps designed for suspension is important. You also have to monitor the condition of the person suspended ... if the extremities get blue & cold ... and don't have a rapid capillary refill ... then you have to limit that type of play to under 20 minutes (that's not an absolute ... but a reasonable number). For some safety snaps, look at these for examples ... similar can be had at any Tack Supply ... Tractor Supply Company ... Feed & Grain store, etc. www.hardwarestore.com/panic-swivel-snap-136853.aspx www.hardwarestore.com/trigger-swivel-eye-snap-215400.aspx www.hardwarestore.com/trigger-snap-672108.aspx there are other types that will work well ... it all depends upon the amt of weight they need to support, whether you can take the weight off of the snaps (if the person suspended is too heavy & you can't open the snaps, then they are the wrong type). If in doubt, get a r/l experienced Dom/me involved to teach you what you need to know. And, "experience" isn't what they SAY they can do, it's reputation & general acclaim. Play safely
