Even if you didn't, twice as many men as women is evidence of a group admitting members on an equal basis how, exactly? If it was thirteen of both, that line would sound a bit more credible...

How many of each applied? For all you know, they could have admitted female applicants at twice the rate of male applicants.

In Victorian London?
I really doubt that they did, unless they were running a knocking shop rather than a cod masonic magic school.
(I'd also, while we're on the subject of magical gender politics, draw your attention to that "Victorian London" thing. Women didn't have parity anywhere, back then, least of all in a boy's club for people who were too flakey to join the Masons.)

This is true.
Isn't there a quote or something to that tune?

Tune, we need a tune... How about a really humorous tune from a lovely pagan band:

You might be a bit better off checking in the Introductions and general bdsm forums first, Starcat: things can get a bit heated down here in the gutter.

Re Merc's point about songs, these guys are aggressively and self righteously wiccan (in the manner I was taking issue with before before took offense at my suggesting wicca is a bit more feminine than the hermetic bullshit artists), but have done some great stuff if you likes teh goth:

So are you saying Wicca is a pansy's game, Moonhead?

Moonhead -> RE: Pagan/Wiccan/Druidism Discussion (4/2/2014 3:31:28 AM)

No, I'm saying it's less obnoxiously masculine than the rather more male slanted Hermetic tradition of self important guys in robes waving wands around like Harry Potter having a midlife crisis.

I'm beginning to see your point about shit from England.

I do not practice Wicca. But I am an avid lover of plants, and love gardening and landscaping. I have used herbs for medicinal purposes and find it fascinating. All of it. Seeds to a soaring tree, pretty incredible stuff.
I also enjoy lighting candles for prayer.
Astrology is also fascinating, although I do not follow a guide of any sort, mapping days based on forecasts from it. It is funny though that a persons astrological sign can sometimes indicate with a bit of accuracy a person's personality, not always but it can be pretty close.
Like me, I am an aries, according to the sun signs. Its a lot of fun to know and go WOW, that sounds like me.[:D] The good and the bad.

Hi there& blessed be.
Im trying to find others within the community that share similar beliefs and would like to talk a bit.
I'm Wiccan. I specialize in Candle magic, refreshing myself in hoodoo[herbs] and refreshing on reading tarot.
I welcome anyone curious and openminded and believe that we all can be mature enough to discuss religion <3
Thank you and can't wait to hear from you.

Hello, good to see you and well met.

I am pagan, and a tree hugger and believer in 'and harm noone' and into BDSM to the hilt :-)

I find the tarot Cards useful to center my mind to find out what I already know but wasn't aware of that I did. Am very much on the save the earth team.

Byrdie -> RE: Pagan/Wiccan/Druidism Discussion (12/22/2022 5:58:23 PM)

I have a mild interest in Hoodoo and a major one in tarot. I took a tarot workshop some years back from a reader who used to work in psychology and who loved the Jungian archetypes path, and view tarot as a way to help others tease out the solutions to their own problems.

Though that I have a related problem of collecting tarot decks doesn't seem to be one I can solve by reading my own cards. [;)]

Welcome to the forums, IcepopSugardrop.

The political participants here in Politics & Religion can be rather abrasive, so I suggest you just ignore or Hide anyone who rubs you the wrong way and give your energy to the posters who offer civil discourse.

Hey! I am a regular poster in P&R and am NOT abrasive. So There! :)

And yes, Wiccan, like Pagan, and the many off-shoots of both, have an underlying premise to follow nature and harm no-one. That is the basic roots of both of them.

Help me understand, as I really know nothing of this. I understand "Pagan " to mean (Non Christian, Jewish, or Islamic).
Is that not true? Is there a specific Pagan religion?

For example, I understood the ancient Greeks and Romans to be Pagan, believing in their mythological gods. Am I not understanding the term correctly?
