I knew, and likely so did others. Clearly irrelevant, since the joke is clear, referring to the confection (mostly corn syrup), and the confection is the prime definition.

Did you not know that words in English often have multiple meanings? Or as Your Egoness put it, did you really not know that words in English often have multiple meanings?

Don't be such a marshmellow.

American Heritage Dictionary:
marsh·mal·low
Top
Home > Library > Literature & Language > Dictionary
(märsh'mĕl'ō, -măl'ō) pronunciation
n.

1. A light, spongy, very sweet confection made of corn syrup, gelatin, sugar, and starch and dusted with powdered sugar.
2. A confection of sweetened paste, formerly made from the root of the marshmallow plant.
often marsh mallow

Botany. A perennial plant (Althaea officinalis) native to Europe and naturalized in marshes of eastern North America, having showy pink flowers and a mucilaginous root occasionally used as a demulcent and in confectionery.

Slang. A timid, cowardly, or ineffective person.

Yes they do. I saw it on an internet video, so it has to be true.

I guess you fail to get that the video is substantially less funny when you know that there actually is a marshmallow plant.

You see the video is based on the premise that the marshmallow is not actually derived from any plant at all. Which while true now was not always so.

I guess you fail to get that your opinion has no bearing on what anybody else perceives to be funny.

I think you don't want to know what my opinion is of you.

Well I admit I was hoping that you'd do it here. But that's okay, using the unmoderated thread was fine. It's always refreshing to have the opportunity to see someone's inner beauty put on display, and I understand that in some cases it requires a venue where there is greater freedom of expression.

Marsh mallow root and wild plums make a wonderful pudding.
Thanks to a flashback to living off the land back in my Boy Scout days.
