Queen tickets are on sale for their North American tour, which kicks off in June. Who's going; who's boycotting?

I can add four more options during the next hour.

Blonderfluff -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 7:08:14 AM)

How about, "I'm reserving judgment until I see them together ?? "

I'd love to see Adam do Freddy justice. But I have my doubts!!!

MasterCaneman -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 7:10:32 AM)

I'm with Blonderfluff on this one. I've heard Lambert sing, and he isn't bad, but those are mighty big shoes to fill.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 7:28:41 AM)

I would go if I had the money. I love Adam Lambert and he's performed with Queen before so I know he'll do a good job. But that's just way the heck out of my price range. I'll wait for the DVD.

I agree they some mahoosive shoes to fill. I'm not overly familiar with the lad Lambert, he can probably do justice vocally but it's the stage presence, the charisma, the "x" factor (see what I did there) that will fall short, not by any fault of his own but simply because of the shadow he walks in.

As much as the other band members are superb musicians in their own right and deserve the esteem they are held in, for me, as a band, as an entity Queen died when Mercury died.

Of course the great thing about music, proper music, is that it never dies...

One of the reasons I like Adam is because I can see the glam rock influence in his style and stage presence. It's especially obvious in the video for his song For Your Entertainment. He's no Freddie Mercury, but he's going to do a good job. I don't think Queen would have agreed to work with him if they didn't think he could do justice to the music and I think the band (as opposed to the record label) is who asked him to do it. I could be wrong about that part though so don't quote me.

GreedyTop -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 8:19:12 AM)

an interview I saw with Brian, Adam and Roger had the guys saying that Adam would be good (and Adam admitting that he's no Freddie). The overall vibe was (IMO): Adam will rock it, but if you are expecting FREDDIE, Adam is not Freddie (and I did not get the feeling that this was meant to be in any way as a slam against Adam).

I'd happily go, if I could afford tix.

hlen5 -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 8:25:10 AM)

Unfortunately I read the crawl as "Adam Lanza". Good luck to the right Adam!!

theshytype -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 8:27:49 AM)

I think Adam Lambert is extremely talented. I actually hope he doesn't try to fill Freddie's shoes because first off, he can't. No matter how talented he is, he can't be him. I think Adam would be doing himself an injustice if he tried.

ETA: (because I'm late on the caffeine intake and didn't finish my thought)

I'm still interested to see them together.

I'd never heard of Lambert before, but from the evidence of that video I think it might just work. He does glam rock in his own style. My only real doubt is that he's a lot younger than Dr May and the others. That's going to look a little odd.

kalikshama -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 11:39:55 AM)

I think only if you have wicked good seats. Here, he's playing at the Boston Garden, where our hopes or budget of getting seats good enough for this to be apparent are nil.

TNDommeK -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 1:41:48 PM)

So long as he never wears a mustache and goatee.
He just doesn't look right with one. Now voice wise...he's
wonderful. He will never be Freddie but it'll be great to hear/see

PeonForHer -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 1:46:23 PM)

FR

I always get sad about Freddie. I saw him in one of the rare TV interviews to which he consented, once. God was he painfully shy. He opened up as a singer, but that was all the extrovert in him used up. Poor sod.

LafayetteLady -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 2:24:59 PM)

He definitely has the vocal chops. His first performance with them was on the American Idol Finale. He was the first ,"Glam Rock" contestant. He's currently doing a guest spot on Glee.

Nobody can replace Freddie Mercury, but few can also believably hit the same notes as him either. Lambert can.

I think it is a great pairing. He may not be Freddie, but for a whole new generation to be able to experience that music is great. And for those of us who remember them from the beginning, a chance to see it again is terrific.

The first album I ever got was Queen.

stef -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 5:11:28 PM)

Lambert doesn't have the voice to do Freddie justice. They should have asked Marc Martel to do the tour, he is absolutely amazing.

ARIES83 -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 5:26:46 PM)

Queen was awesome. I'm assuming this guy has the pipes or they wouldn't be doing the tour.

Whatever the case... One of the greatest bands of all time.[:)]

TNDommeK -> RE: Queen with Adam Lambert as Front Man (3/29/2014 5:33:39 PM)

Oh Adam can sing..
