I've given up on my man getting the sweet potato recipe from his Aunt so am going to try allrecipe's Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic which seems to be very close to what we had at his Aunt's last Easter. I think I'm going to skip the 1/2 C sugar in the potatoes, though. I'm going to do poohbear's sister's yummy sounding CROCKPOT HONEY MUSTARD HAM. I may do asparagus for a green. The Fannie Farmer Pineapple Upside Down Cake is traditional in my family but I have a ton of running around between my family and his so not sure I can fit that in. I have not even thought about it! Maybe something with pork (I got a good recipe for baked Parmesan pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad for the grownups). I have to go back to Walmart to get more butterfly pork chops for the recipe and bread crumbs. My SIL's b'day is the 13th so she is doomed to get a cake.

That sounds so good. I have no clue what my family wants to do. If its nice out we may just have a huge family BBQ to go along with the big Easter egg hunt I do for the grand munchkins every year.

I come from a HUGE (Grandpa had 12 siblings; grandma had 7) Traditional Catholic family. Because of this, the Holy Saturday dinner was usually the bigger thing. The Lenten fast was over. people could indulge in whatever they'd given up for Lent. The family being so big there were plenty of good cooks in the mix. A typical Holy Saturday dinner included: soup (Usually minestrone), salad, Lasagna, some form of meatloaf (usually beef, pork, and veal all run through the meat grinder) with onions, bacon, and tomatoes baked right on the meatloaf, any number of desserts (Grandma always made chocolate something for me) and lots of corresponding wines. Easter Dinner usually consisted of Holy Saturday left-overs. Screen captures *still* RULE! Ya feel me?

My SIL has to do routes on Saturdays but Mom and I will do up the cakes and pies on Saturday and I will probably do some deviled eggs with bacon bits (the kids will not eat the eggs unless I fix them that way).

We'll be with my parents in Wales, so naturally we'll be having roast Welsh spring lamb.... mmmmm.....

Traditionally it's a brisket for Passover with a potato kugel. I was thinking about a roast chicken this year with a matzo farfel stuffing. Matzo covered with caramel, chocolate and nuts instead of cookies. Sponge cake with strawberry sauce or chocolate flourless torte.

We usually do turkey legs, ham and lots of side dishes. I love decorating for Easter.

My family always served Paella on Easter which I thought was a little strange (hey, everybody else was having ham!!!) but now I stick with tradition and make it....Of course Thing 1 & Thing 2 do not appreciate it and would prefer McDonald's but then I can trot out my "sacrifice" lecture and make them eat it

This was a long winter for my family, so we're planning a low-key Easter. My cousin was a bit apologetic, till I reminded her that my bar for this Easter is pretty low, having spent the last one in the hospital. I'm proposing this catchy tune, adapted a bit, as our anthem this year. We'll have lamb--our family's Easter tradition--and I'm not sure what else.

I haven't cooked anything for Easter in years. But this year I'm having some intercontinental company, so whatever I do cook, I'll be naked while doing it. :)

Easter has always been a solemn holiday for me. One of my most vivid memories of an Easter day is of me as a teenager walking down the street on a gray and rainy day to an almost empty house with no real plans for the day. Ever since then, the day feels hollow. Perhaps I will make a bunny cake for joy. :)

I am planning on smoking a lean trimmed brisket, a wild pig ham and not sure on the side dishes yet.
